The Philadelphia Eagles are excited to announce the introduction of the Eagles Spanish Radio Network.
For the first time, fans can tune in to WTTM (1680 AM) in Philadelphia to hear every Eagles game broadcast in Spanish, beginning with Thursday's preseason opener against Pittsburgh. Many of the games will also be broadcast on WGPA (1100 AM) in Allentown. Rickie Ricardo will be doing the play-by-play and is joined by color men Felix DeJesus and Will Kulik. The Eagles are the 14th NFL team to have a Spanish broadcast.
Ricardo is also in his seventh season with the Philadelphia Phillies Spanish broadcast crew. He is a radio veteran of 33 years, with stints in New York, Miami, Washington D.C. and Music Choice television. DeJesus is a native New Yorker who is in his sixth season as one of the color commentators for the New York Yankees Spanish broadcast. Kulik is the president and founder of the Spanish Beisbol Network, which he created in 2001 and reaches over 22 million Hispanics with its roster of MLB team markets that includes Philadelphia, Boston, Washington, Oakland, Texas and Los Angeles.
Philadelphia Eagles Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month
The Eagles are also working with the NFL to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
The team will be honoring Hispanic Heritage during their August 9 preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Invitations have been extended to the local Hispanic community/media to show appreciation for this passionate and growing fan base. Philadelphia’s Hispanic population grew by nearly 60,000 people from 2000 to 2010, climbing from 8.5% to 12.3% of the city’s overall population.
Prior to the game, the Eagles will be recognizing Cynthia Figueroa as the recipient of the NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership award. Cynthia is President and CEO of Congreso de Latinos Unidos, and is being honored for her contributions to the community.
