Rumor Mill: LB Telvin Smith Visits

Posted Apr 27, 2014

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that former Florida State linebacker Telvin Smith recently visited with the Eagles.

Per Wilson, the 6-foot-3, 218-pound Smith is a projected second-round target in this year's draft. Two years ago, the Eagles used a second-round pick on Mychal Kendricks, the fastest linebacker at the NFL Scouting Combine. Smith was the second-fastest linebacker at this year's Combine, just .05 of a second behind Kendricks' 40-yard time of 4.47 seconds.

Unlike Kendricks, Smith would be an outside linebacker with his frame. In fact, Wilson writes that some personnel execs think Smith could be a strong safety in the NFL.

Smith registered 75 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions - two of which he returned for touchdowns - as he earned first-team All-ACC honors last season.
