Report: Jenkins' Status Undecided

Posted Feb 22, 2013

According to a report, the Eagles have to make a decision regarding the status of defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins before the start of free agency in March.

Geoff Mosher of Comcast SportsNet reported Friday that defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins is due a $1 million roster bonus on March 15, meaning the Eagles have less than a month to decide whether they’d like to pay it. According to Mosher, the Eagles have yet to give Jenkins a “thumbs up or down” regarding his status with the team next season.

Because he restructured his contract last season, Jenkins is reportedly owed $1.5 million regardless of whether he’s on the team in 2013. Jenkins, 32, finished last season with 51 total tackles and 4 sacks. Though he played defensive tackle with the Eagles, Jenkins has experience at defensive end in a 3-4 scheme. This could potentially prove useful if the Eagles do indeed change defensive schemes under head coach Chip Kelly.
