Report: Eagles Looking For O-Line Help

Posted Mar 13, 2013

According to Dan Graziano of ESPN, the Eagles will "check in on" right tackles Andre Smith and Sebastian Vollmer after the team reportedly showed interest in All-Pro Jake Long.

Smith was the Bengals’ first-round pick in 2009. At 6-4 and 335 pounds, Smith is known primarily for his run-blocking ability. He started all 16 games at right tackle last season for the Bengals, and has started 30 games over the last two seasons. Pro Football Focus ranked Smith, 26, as the best right tackle in the NFL last season.

The Patriots drafted Vollmer in the second round of the 2009 draft. Vollmer has spent time at both left and right tackle, and started 15 games on the right side last season. Standing at a towering 6-8 and 320 pounds, Vollmer was PFF’s third-best right tackle in 2012.

Graziano also mentioned that it appears “unlikely” the Eagles will sign former Dolphins tackle Jake Long. The former first-overall pick is reportedly looking to sign with a team that will allow him to play left tackle.

The Eagles have also reportedly shown prior interest in former Chiefs right tackle Eric Winston.
