Report: Eagles In Mix For Darrelle Revis

Posted Mar 12, 2014

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released cornerback Darrelle Revis on Wednesday moments before a roster bonus was due as well as improved draft pick compensation to the New York Jets.

The five-time Pro Bowl and three-time first-team All-Pro selection is now an unrestricted free agent. Tom E. Curran of Comcast SportsNet in New England reported that the Eagles will be one of the teams in the mix for his services.

This report comes after NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that the Eagles were one of the teams to call the Bucs about a trade for Revis prior to Tampa Bay releasing him.

Tampa Bay traded for Revis a year ago. In his only season with the Bucs, Revis had 50 tackles, 11 passes defensed, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one sack.

The 28-year-old Revis missed almost all of the 2012 season after an ACL injury. Revis was a first-round pick of the Jets (No. 14 overall) in the 2007 NFL Draft.
