Reid: Vick's Concussion Pretty Significant

Posted Nov 12, 2012

Head coach Andy Reid said on Monday afternoon that quarterback Michael Vick suffered a "pretty significant concussion" in Sunday's loss to Dallas.

Reid did not rule out Vick for next Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins, but reiterated that the concussion was "a pretty good one" and will have to go through the testing protocol before he can return to the field.

According to Reid, Vick suffered the concussion on his last play, a third-down incompletion in the second quarter. Vick's recollection was "foggy" after the game, per Reid. Vick is resting at home, but is in communication with head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder.

If Vick does not play, quarterback Nick Foles will make his first career start. On Sunday, Foles was 22-of-32 for 219 yards with a touchdown and an interception. His touchdown was a 44-yard toss to wide receiver Jeremy Maclin. Reid did say that Foles will be the quarterback to take the first-team reps on Wednesday. If Vick is healthy, and that's a big if of course, he will play as Reid stated that he is still the starting quarterback.

The receiver corps across the board is battling injury. Maclin incurred a low back strain when he was flipped over by Charlie Peprah in the first quarter. Maclin is "pretty sore today," per Reid, and it remains to be seen what his status will be for Sunday. Jason Avant exited the game with a hamstring strain. Reid said that Avant will "struggle" to play this Sunday. Mardy Gilyard is also battling to come back from a hamstring injury that has kept him out of the last two games.

Guard Danny Watkins is "making progress" with his ankle sprain and could return to practice this week. Reid said that lateral movement continues to be the main issue.

Offensive tackle Jason Peters will not practice this week, as he recovers from his offseason Achilles injury.

Running back Chris Polk was out for the Cowboys game with turf toe and is still "very sore."
