Head coach Andy Reid updated the injury situation following Wednesday morning's walk-thru and two key rookies on the defensive side of the football will not participate in practice - defensive tackle Fletcher Cox and weakside linebacker Mychal Kendricks.
Both players suffered a concussion in Sunday's game against Washington and are in the initial stage of the recovery process. Kendricks might actually be a little ahead of Cox, per Reid, as the defensive tackle is experiencing headaches and a migraine.
Reid said that Akeem Jordan will practice in Kendricks' spot on the weak side and Derek Landri will line up alongside Cullen Jenkins with the first-team defensive line. The Eagles re-signed defensive tackle Antonio Dixon to a two-year contract on Wednesday for depth. Reid said that Dixon has kept in shape, but it remains to be seen how much he will actually play. Dixon played in two games with Indianapolis this season before being released on October 29.
Quarterback Michael Vick is poised to make his first start since the Week 10 game against Dallas after Nick Foles was placed on the Injured Reserve list Wednesday with a fractured hand. Vick suffered a concussion in that game and was cleared to return for last Sunday's game, but was a healthy scratch.
"We'll see how he does. The speed of the game will be different than this practice," Reid said. "It might take him a minute to get going. He's been doing it for a long time."
The Eagles close out the season this Sunday against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium. The stadium has been the site of two remarkable, thrilling wins over the past two seasons. In 2010, there was DeSean Jackson and the Miracle at the New Meadowlands. Last season, Vince Young connected with Riley Cooper late in the game for the game-winning touchdown. Even though the season ends, Reid said he has not yet started to think about what is beyond this Week 17 game. He is squarely focused on the Giants.
"I haven't gone there. I'm not going to go there," Reid said. "All of my energy is on the New York Giants."
