RB Ellington Hopes To Play Vs. Eagles

Posted Nov 29, 2013

Running back Andre Ellington suffered a knee injury late in Thursday's practice and was listed as questionable after sitting out Friday's workout.

However, the rookie is hoping to be able to play with "a lot of rest" between now and kickoff, according to

Head coach Bruce Arians said that the injury is "nothing real serious," but the team is "going to be real careful with it." Arians admitted that there would be about "five or six plays" in the game plan which would be eliminated if Ellington is unable to play.

Fran Duffy highlighted in his preview of the Cardinals how the running back is utilized. Ellington is the team's leading rusher with 441 yards on just 73 carries (6.0 yards per carry), which is nearly half of starter Rashard Mendenhall's workload (130 carries, 391 yards, 3.0 yards per carry).

Ellington is the only player whose status is in doubt for Arizona.

Safety Earl Wolff was declared out with a knee injury on Friday by the Eagles. The rest of the team - including starting cornerback Bradley Fletcher and linebacker Mychal Kendricks - is ready to go.
