Pro Bowl 2013 & China Tour

Posted Feb 9, 2013

Casey represented the Eagles at the 2013 Pro Bowl and the inaugural Pro Bowl China Cheerleader Tour.

Casey at the Pro BowlSo I’m back from the 2013 Pro Bowl and the NFL China Tour but let me take you back to January 21st when I set off on a truly unforgettable trip! My journey started in the Chicago airport where I met my first fellow PBCs! Mellissa from the Minnesota Vikings and Myra from the Carolina Panthers were two of the nicest girls I had ever met and we bonded right away. When we arrived in Honolulu, Hawaii it was exciting from the very start. We were greeted with lays and Pro Bowl signs and a hug from each new cheerleader we met! The women could not have been more welcoming and friendly and I knew immediately that this was going to be such a special experience. Our team breakfast was really where we all bonded for the very first time. We had the opportunity to speak about who we were and the journey that led us to the Pro Bowl. The first day we shot the iconic Pro Bowl Cheerleader rock photo where we posed proudly in representation of our respective teams. This was really a surreal experience for me. At our first squad rehearsal we really came together as a team. We got into ours squads and started working on the dances that we had all individual worked so hard on for the past couple of months. By the end of that first rehearsal we all felt like a team who had been practicing together for forever. My squad had the amazing opportunity to go to Pearl Harbor to perform for kids at their school’s pep rally! The entire AFC Football Team came and the kids could not have been more excited. We got to teach the girls a dance while the players played football with the boys. The kids had such a great day and it was awesome to know that we helped put smiles on their faces.

Before I knew it, it was game day at Aloha Stadium! Walking into the stadium in our new Pro Bowl Cheerleader warm-ups was unlike anything I had ever experienced. Thousands of fans gathered outside of the stadium to celebrate the game. We had the opportunity to go out and meet with the fans and perform for them before heading in to prepare for the game. It was the coolest thing to see Eagles fans all the way over in Hawaii! The game was everything that I though it would be and more. We kicked it off my performing pregame with Train! The energy level of that performance was incredible and the fans could not have been more excited to have the opportunity to experience it. Being introduced as the Pro Bowl Cheerleader there to represent the Philadelphia Eagles and looking up into the stands and seeing my family cheering for me was such a special moment that I will never forget. The past Eagles Pro Bowl Cheerleaders had told me that the game was going to be one of the most fun experiences of my whole life and they could not have been more right. I am so honored and thankful to have represented the Eagles at the 2013 Pro Bowl.

Then, it was off to Shanghai for the NFL China Tour! Myself, and three other Pro Bowl Cheerleaders set off for the long journey from Hawaii to Shanghai. I don’t think any of us could actually believe that we were in China! One of the first things that we did was teach a kids clinic to the cheerleaders at SCIS Pudong. The kids were so excited to meet us and to learn a dance! We also got to perform for them and take pictures and sign cards for them! It was amazing to see how excited the kids were to see us and it was such a special welcoming to Shanghai. Before Super Bowl day, we got to do some shopping and sight seeing with our amazing tour guide, Maggie. We saw so much of Shanghai and each destination was more beautiful than the next. Maggie was able to teach us a lot about the culture which was truly fascinating. Finally, it was Super Bowl day! It was certainly a different experience for us to be kicking off a Super Bowl party at 7:30 AM on Monday morning but the fans were there, dressed in NFL gear and ready to go! We preformed at pregame and at halftime and even though it was so early, it was one of the most exciting performances that I had ever done! Many of the attendees were people who were from the United States but working at companies in Shanghai for a few years. It was really special to be able to bring a little piece of home to them. Having the opportunity to bring a little bit of our culture over to Shanghai while learning so much about there culture was such a rewarding experience and I couldn’t be prouder to have been apart of it.
