The AVM was discovered last summer when Patterson suffered a seizure during Training Camp. Told that the surgery could wait until after the season, the 2005 first-round draft pick returned to action in 2011, starting 15 games for the Eagles. Following the January surgery, Patterson was expected to return to action around this summer's Training Camp, but he was not fully cleared at the time.
Now, the Eagles will have three weeks to decide whether to activate Patterson, currently the longest-tenured Eagle, onto the 53-man roster.
There are currently four defensive tackles on the active roster: ![]()
