Kicker Cody Parker's two second-quarter field goals - including a 54-yard attempt - gave the Eagles a 13-0 lead at halftime. The 54-yarder came with 1:51 left. The Eagles got the ball back thanks to a fumble forced by Earl Wolff and Parkey put a 25-yard attempt through the uprights as time expired. All eyes are on the kicking battle as Parkey and Alex Henery are vying for the job. Parkey also had two kickoffs (one landed at the goal line, the other went 6 yards into the end zone) as well as an extra point in the first half.
Quarterback Matt Barkley was 13 of 23 for 181 yards with a 43-yard touchdown to wide receiver Arrelious Benn and an interception in the first half. Barkley led the Eagles into Jets' territory on five of his seven drives. The Eagles could have added even more points in the second quarter, but on a 4th-and-1 from the New York 10-yard line Barkley went for a quarterback sneak and was stopped for no gain.
Running back Henry Josey led the rushing attack with 57 yards on eight carries, while Matthew Tucker chipped in 39 yards rushing on six carries.
Benn had the long touchdown, but Jeff Maehl delivered the most yards receiving for the Eagles with three catches for 71 yards.
Good news on the injury front as guard Matt Tobin, who suffered a left ankle injury in the first quarter, went in for X-rays and those were deemed negative although he did not return. Running back Kenjon Barner also exited the game with a left ankle injury, but his return is questionable.
Former Eagles quarterback Michael Vick made a one-snap cameo appearance before walking off to the applause from the fans in attendance. Matt Simms came in at quarterback and was largely kept in check by the Eagles' defense completing 7 of 17 pass attempts for 121 yards. The Jets drove the ball to the Eagles' 15-yard line in the second quarter, but on 4th-and-2 Simms' pass intended for former Eagle Greg Salas sailed wide and incomplete.
