O'Brien To Stay At Penn State

Posted Jan 3, 2013

Penn State head coach Bill O'Brien became a hot NFL head coach candidate after leading the Nittany Lions to an 8-4 record in his first year on the job despite devastating penalties against the program.

However, O'Brien, a former offensive coordinator for the New England Patriots, has decided to stay in school.

Frequent PhiladelphiaEagles.com contributor and Sirius NFL Radio host Adam Caplan reported Thursday night that O'Brien will remain at Penn State after interviewing with the Browns and the Eagles. The Eagles confirmed Caplan's report that they met with O'Brien on Thursday.

O'Brien has told Pennlive.com that he is indeed staying in Happy Valley.

The Eagles met with Falcons defensive coordinator Mike Nolan and special teams coordinator Keith Armstrong on Wednesday. They are scheduled to meet with Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy on Sunday.

O'Brien is not the only college coach to whom the Eagles have been linked. Reports have connected the Eagles with Oregon head coach Chip Kelly and Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone.
