There was the Fog Bowl. Now, there's the Snow Bowl.
The Eagles and the Lions kicked off Sunday in the middle of a blinding snowstorm which unexpectedly dumped eight inches of snow on the turf at Lincoln Financial Field. And with the elements from above came the element of surprise throughout the game as two of the league's most explosive passing attacks were grounded like the airplanes at nearby Philadelphia International Airport.
After the Eagles offense struggled for the better part of three quarters, this contest became the Shady Bowl.
The Eagles won their fifth straight game to improve to 8-5 on the season to take a 1/2-game lead in the NFC East as the Dallas Cowboys don't play until Monday night against Chicago. It's the Eagles' longest win streak since the team won six in a row in 2009.
