Jackson Headed To The Pro Bowl

Posted Jan 17, 2014

Add another Eagle to the 2014 Pro Bowl roster.

The Eagles announced on Friday that wide receiver DeSean Jackson is Honolulu-bound. Jackson replaces Houston Texans receiver Andre Johnson. It is the third Pro Bowl appearance for Jackson in six NFL seasons.

2013 was a career season for Jackson, who finished with career highs in catches (82) and yards (1,332) and tied a career-best mark with nine receiving touchdowns.

In his first season in Chip Kelly’s offensive system, Jackson became more than just a deep threat. Kelly and his coaching staff consistently found creative ways to get Jackson in space by lining him up all over the field and often putting the receiver in motion. Jackson went over the 100-yard receiving mark five times this season, including his career-best 10-catch performance which netted 195 yards against the Minnesota Vikings.

Jackson becomes the fifth Eagle selected to this year’s Pro Bowl, joining quarterback Nick Foles, running back LeSean McCoy, guard Evan Mathis and tackle Jason Peters. Peters has already announced that he will not play in the game. The five Pro Bowl selections is the most the Eagles have had since the 2011 game, when they also had five selections.
