Hicks' Big INT Not Enough In Loss

**

ARLINGTON, Texas –** For whatever reason, linebacker Jordan Hicks has a thing about AT&T Stadium. A very good thing. He seems to be in the right place at the right time when the Eagles play there.

He was in the right place for sure late in the first half on Sunday night, dropping into coverage and intercepting Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott as he threw for wide receiver Brice Butler in the end zone to kill a Cowboys drive. The play turned out to be a big "swing" moment in the game as the Eagles used eight plays to move from their 20-yard line to the Dallas 36-yard line. It gave Caleb Sturgis a chance to kick a 55-yard field goal just before halftime that pushed the Eagles to a 13-10 lead after two quarters.

Hicks, of course, made a similar momentum-swinging play in last season's game at AT&T Stadium, picking off Matt Cassel and returning the interception 67 yards in the team's overtime victory. Hicks later tore his pectoral muscle and missed the remainder of his rookie campaign. The play on Sunday night was Hicks' third career interception and his seventh takeaway in only 15 career games. In three games against Dallas, Hicks has two interceptions, a sack and a forced fumble.

"I felt it was a turning point, honestly. It was a big swing because we went down there and kicked a field goal before the half and then came out in the third quarter and went up by 10 points on them," Hicks said of Sunday night's interception. "With that lead, though, we have to hold it. It's tough on our defense, because we weren't able to do that."

The Eagles allowed Dallas two late touchdown drives that made all the difference, one a 90-yarder on 11 plays that ended with a Prescott touchdown pass to wide receiver Dez Bryant, and then a closer in overtime when the Cowboys drove 75 yards with some big Prescott throws and a mix of Ezekiel Elliott on the ground.

After playing so well through three-plus quarters and mixing up its looks, bringing some blitzes, keeping Elliott under control and covering down the field, the defense took some hits late.

"We played so well in the third quarter and early in the fourth and that's what is so disappointing," Hicks said. "We just didn't finish the game the way we wanted. It's a very tough loss. I thought we did a great job and we're sitting there with a 10-point lead and then it was gone. You have to finish in the NFL. We didn't finish."

The Eagles traveled to AT&T Stadium for a Sunday Night Football contest with the Dallas Cowboys for first place in the NFC East.
