Opening Remarks: "I appreciate the effort, but the objective here is to win the game and we didn’t do that. We had opportunities down there. For some of the young guys, it’s a good learning experience. They have to capitalize on it when they’re in that situation again, and make sure that we finish the game and finish it right. The fans were great. They stayed, they were into the game, and I thought the guys gave them something to cheer about. But the bottom line is that we have to finish the game and win the game. It’s unacceptable to lose the game."
On whether the hand injury suffered by Foles affected his passing in the second half: "His hand was sore. You’re going to have that at that position. You’re going to have those things that you have to work through, and it’s important as a young guy that you do that. I thought he handled everything for the most part very well in that second half. I thought he played better in the second half than he did in the first half, so he battled through that thing."
On turnovers being costly in the defeat: "Turnovers and penalties, they can’t happen."
On the pass attempt by Foles to WR
On the effort demonstrated by McCoy upon his return from a concussion: "I wouldn’t expect anything less from him. That’s just how he’s wired. He loves playing the game. He was into it, and he was into it all week. Even when I took him out of the game, he battled me to get back into the game. He wanted to play, and that says something about the kid."
On the handling of the final play of the game by Foles: "He was trying to make something happen. He didn’t have anybody open, so he was buying time the best he could. There was nothing there. The bottom line is that there was nobody open. He was just buying as much possible time as he could, but it didn’t work out right."
On his reaction to the fans chanting his name as he left the field at the end of the game: "We have great fans. I’ve always said that we’re kind of on the same page. When you stink, they let you know you stink, and when you’re doing good, they’re going to let you know you’re doing good. I got it. I understand. I understand the situation. I appreciate everything."
On whether this was his final home game as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles: "I don’t know that. I have nothing to tell you on that. I’m the coach right now, and I’m just coaching. That’s what I’m doing the best that I possibly can."
On whether he ever considered that today could possibly be his final home game: "Those are good stories, but when you’re in the process of getting ready for a game and then when you’re playing the game, your mind doesn’t go there, especially a game like that which comes down to the last second. That’s not where I’m at."
On the play of Foles in his second game this season against the Redskins: "He was better than he was the last time. We came up short and obviously it’s not all the quarterback’s fault. I thought the guys battled. I thought he did some good things. There were some snaps that he’d like to have back, but one thing that he did was he continued to battle through the game. He did it with a sore hand in the second half. He continued to battle, and actually I thought he did better in the second half than in the first half."
On the improved play of DE
