FB Ranks Thin With Polk Doubtful

Posted Dec 21, 2012

Fullback Stanley Havili has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins and running back Chris Polk, who was in the mix to replace Havili at fullback, is listed as doubtful because of the toe injury that has hampered him over the last two months.

With Polk now unlikely to play, versatile rookie Emil Igwenagu will step in at fullback, which also means that newly signed veteran tight end Evan Moore is likely to be active as the second tight end behind Brent Celek.

"He actually looks good," Reid said of Moore, who was with the Seattle Seahawks until he was released this week. He did a nice job in the pass game and what we asked him to do in the run game, he did a nice job with ... He understands the offense (from his time with the Cleveland Browns)."

Quarterback Michael Vick is still the number three quarterback at the moment, Reid said, though Reid has not yet decided whether Vick will be active for Sunday's game.

Reid also reiterated that running back LeSean McCoy will start against the Redskins for the first time since suffering a concussion against these same Redskins, though his workload will not reflect the typical workload of a lead running back.

"I'm going to keep an eye on him," Reid said. "He's not going to play the whole game, every snap of the game. We'll monitor him and see how he does."

With all signs pointing to Robert Griffin III returning to the lineup Sunday for the Redskins, Reid admitted that the Eagles were preparing for that to be the case all along. When Griffin last played the Eagles, he completed 14-of-15 passes for four touchdowns and a perfect 158.3 quarterback rating.

"From the get-go, that's how we started preparing," said Reid. "We thought he'd be able to play."
