The Eagles certainly did not expect to be 3-6 through nine games. They had no reason to believe a five-game losing streak would befall them after a 3-1 start. But here they are, all but written off with seven games left to play.
"I have never been through anything like this," said wide receiver ![]()
That's what the season has come to for the Eagles, picking yourself up after getting knocked down and moving forward.
"The only thing I can say that we can do is we have to all do our job," said tight end ![]()
"I think we can all dig deeper. We can all play better and we can all try a little harder."
Next up for the Eagles is a trip to Washington to play the equally 3-6 Redskins. With a win there, perhaps they can get on a roll. But the Eagles, as the cliché goes, have to take it one game at a time.
"We're a confident bunch," said wide receiver ![]()
"We are going to fight," said running back ![]()
Also on the players' minds is the outside speculation about the future of head coach Andy Reid. Supporting their beloved coach, according to Celek, is very much a goal for the rest of the season.
"I think we all think that," Celek said. "I think that Andy is a great coach. I want to play for him more than anything. I want to win for him, esepcially with what happened earlier in the preseason. To see how we are playing right now, this is not a reflection on Andy. I know it is because he is the head coach, but this is not his type of team right now. We have to play better as players; we need to play better."
