Eagles Sign Guard John Moffitt

Posted Jun 29, 2015

The Philadelphia Eagles have signed guard John Moffitt to a one-year contract and released guard Cole Manhart. Moffitt most recently appeared in two games for the Denver Broncos during the 2013 season before spending the 2014 season away from football. Moffitt prepared for a return to the gridiron by training with Jay Glazer of FOX Sports (who also worked with tackle Lane Johnson).

Moffitt (6-4, 319 pounds) was originally drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of the University of Wisconsin. Moffitt, 28, appeared in 17 games (15 starts) for the Seahawks over his first two seasons in the league. He started 42 of 45 games during his career at Wisconsin, splitting time between center and left guard.
An undrafted free agent signee of the Eagles in 2015, Manhart played collegiately at Nebraska-Kearney where he appeared in 44 games (33 starts).

Moffitt will compete for a spot on the 53-man roster among a deep group of interior offensive linemen including Allen Barbre, Matt Tobin, Dennis Kelly and Andrew Gardner among others.
