Breathe easy, Eagles fans.
There are still 34 days before the rookies are scheduled to report to Training Camp, but the Eagles have all nine of their draft picks under contract. The team agreed to terms on a four-year contract with first-round pick defensive tackle
At the end of the team's mini-camp last week, Cox was not concerned about the status of his contract and, obviously, for good reason. According to NFL.com, Cox is the third-highest draft pick under contract. Despite a bountiful amount of talent at the defensive tackle position, Cox could be an immediate contributor for a defense that was tied for the league lead in sacks last season.
The Eagles traded up three spots in the first round to select the former Mississippi State standout with the No. 12 overall pick. The 6-4, 298-pound Cox entered the NFL Draft after a junior season in which he racked up 56 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks to earn first-team All-Southeastern Conference honors. Cox finished his college career with 114 total tackles, 24.5 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks in 36 games. He also blocked five kicks at Mississippi State.
