New Eagles WR Jeff Maehl

The Eagles added some depth to the wide receiver ranks Monday, acquiring Jeff Maehl from the Houston Texans in exchange for offensive lineman Nate Menkin. Maehl, 24, played for Chip Kelly during his collegiate career at Oregon. Undrafted in 2011, Maehl, 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, spent most of the last two seasons on the Texans practice squad.

Maehl was named a first-team All-Pac 10 player as a senior when he tied for the conference lead with 12 receiving touchdowns and recorded 77 catches for 1,076 yards. His 24 career touchdowns at Oregon tied the school's all-time record.

In the run-up to that year's NFL Draft, Maehl set an NFL Scouting Combine record with a 6.42-second 3-cone drill.

He played three games for the Texans in 2011 but has not yet recorded a catch in an NFL game. Maehl becomes the 10th wide receiver on the active roster.

The 24-year-old Menkin was claimed off waivers by the Eagles prior to the start of the 2012 season after he was released during the Texans' final roster cutdown.
