Conflicting Reports On S T.J. Ward

Posted Mar 11, 2014

As the opening bell of free agency draws ever nearer, the Eagles' interest, or lack thereof, in safety T.J. Ward is the source of some debate this morning. On Monday, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer intimated that the Eagles could be one of the teams interested in the former Brown, though that was disputed by Tim McManus.

On Tuesday morning, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported that the Eagles were one of two teams most heavily interested in Ward, the 5-foot-10, 199-pound 27-year-old.

Shortly thereafter, however, that report was shot down by ESPN's Adam Caplan and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Caplan added that the Eagles view Ward as a pure "box safeety," which conflicts with their interest for a more well-rounded player. In fact, Caplan says, the Eagles have not even spoken with Ward's agents.
