On Tuesday morning, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported that the Eagles were one of two teams most heavily interested in Ward, the 5-foot-10, 199-pound 27-year-old.
Former Browns safety TJ Ward drawing strong interest from the Eagles and Lions— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) March 11, 2014
Shortly thereafter, however, that report was shot down by ESPN's Adam Caplan and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Caplan added that the Eagles view Ward as a pure "box safeety," which conflicts with their interest for a more well-rounded player. In fact, Caplan says, the Eagles have not even spoken with Ward's agents.
#Eagles have not spoken to the agent for T.J. Ward, per source. Ward just doesn't fit what they need. Teams see him more as a box safety.— Adam Caplan (@caplannfl) March 11, 2014
Curious to see where coveted safety TJ Ward lands. Lions interested and have the $$. Dolphins, Redskins? Not Eagles, though. Not in the mix— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 11, 2014
