The Eagles bolstered the team's depth at safety and special teams by agreeing to terms with free agent safety Patrick Chung on a three-year deal Tuesday.
The 5-11, 210-pound Chung amassed 235 tackles, seven interceptions, three sacks and 19 passes defensed in four seasons with New England. Originally a second-round pick of the Patriots in 2009, Chung has played in 50 games (30 starts) and has also racked up 25 special teams tackles.
In a win over the Miami Dolphins in 2010, Chung blocked a punt, blocked a field goal and returned an interception for a touchdown, all in the same game. He played in 12 contests (eight starts) and registered 53 tackles and two interceptions in 2012.
Chung was a four-year starter at Oregon (2005-08), and twice earned first-team all-conference honors. The 25-year-old was born in Kingston, Jamaica and moved to California at the age of 12, where he started to play football as a freshman at Rancho Cucamonga High School.
