The overflow crowd arrived early and basked in brilliant sunshine in South Philadelphia to set the mood before the doors opened and the show began with Grace Potter & The Nocturnals followed by Jake Owen.
McGraw took the stage early in the evening and electrified the crowd and then it was Chesney’s turn. One of the all-time draws in this part of the country, Chesney played all of his favorites and introduced the crowd to his upcoming studio album, Welcome To The Fishbowl, in his fifth trip to Lincoln Financial Field in the last six years.
Chesney wore a cutoff Eagles Strength shirt for the show, and played to the crowd that included the likes of current Eagles players
Chesney took the stage at 8:30 p.m. and opened with "Beer In Mexico," and his set included fan favorites "Summertime" and "When The Sun Goes Down." By the time Chesney ended his show, 2 ½ hours later, the deliriously happy crowd filed out of Lincoln Financial Field hoping for a return visit in 2013.
Clearly, the sold-out crowd of 53,000-plus fans on hand can’t get enough of a great thing. Once again, Lincoln Financial Field staged a world-class event, with much more to come.
