Over fifty percent of the Eagles' 2014 draft class has now signed their rookie contracts as fourth-round pick Jaylen Watkins and fifth-round pick Taylor Hart both put pen to paper on Monday afternoon. The duo of third-day picks joins third-round pick Josh Huff and seventh-round pick Beau Allen as the four rookies to have signed their rookie contracts thus far.
The Eagles took Watkins, 5-11, 194, with the first pick of the fourth round. The versatile former Florida Gator played cornerback, both inside and outside, and safety in college. General manager Howie Roseman said that Watkins is likely to focus on cornerback early in his career.
The 6-foot-6, 281-pound Hart was the first of two fifth-round picks for the Eagles and will bring toughness and familiarity to the Eagles defense after he played defensive end in Oregon's similar 3-4 defense. His experience with defensive line coach Jerry Azzinaro is also a plus.
