Bell, Lewis Inactive For Eagles

Posted Sep 9, 2012

CLEVELAND -- Offensive tackle Demetress Bell and running back Dion Lewis headline the Eagles' inactives for the season opener against the Cleveland Browns.

Three rookies are now in key backup positions. Dennis Kelly will be the backup offensive tackle. Bryce Brown and Chris Polk will provide the depth at running back behind LeSean McCoy.

The rest of the inactives for the Eagles are: safety Colt Anderson, wide receiver Riley Cooper, defensive end Vinny Curry, offensive lineman Nate Menkin and safety David Sims.

RICHARDSON STARTS FOR BROWNS

Rookie running back Trent Richardson did not play in the preseason after having his knee scoped, but he is active and will start for Cleveland.

Linebacker Scott Fujita had his suspension for his role in bountygate overturned, but he has not been removed from the Reserve/Roster Exemption list so he will not play.

The inactives for the Browns include: quarterback Thad Lewis, wide receiver Jordan Norwood, running back Chris Ogbonnaya, cornerback Trevin Wade, defensive back Usama Young, linebacker James-Michael Johnson and offensive lineman Oniel Cousins.

Johnson is replaced in the starting lineup at strongside linebacker by rookie L.J. Fort. Billy Winn starts at defensive tackle instead of John Hughes.
