Bell Hosts Kids' Fun Day On Tuesday

Posted Jul 6, 2012

Offensive tackle Demetress Bell may be new to the Philadelphia area, but he's wasting no time looking to make an impact in the community. On Tuesday, Bell will host a Kids' Fun Day at Northeast High School on Cottman Avenue in Philadelphia. The best part is that registration is free. For more information or to register, click here.

"This is my opportunity to give back to the kids," Bell said. "Along with teaching skills, we will also focus on encouraging kids to work hard in the classroom and to say no to negative influences. My NFL buddies and I look forward to seeing everyone there."

The camp portion of the day begins at 2 PM and is open to football players and cheerleaders from Grades 1-8. Awards will be handed out at the end of the camp and special prizes will be given to campers who have achieved Honor Roll status in school, so bring a copy of your report card.

At the end of the day, there will be a "Great Amazing Race" where kids team up with family members and compete against Bell and his friends in a series of challenges pattered after the award-winning TV Show, "The Amazing Race." The top teams will have a chance to compete later in a national competition for cash prizes.

Bell is hosting the camp to promote and offer support for "30 Minutes-A-Day," an academic initiative that promotes "daily family engagement in three home activities (physical exercise, reading a book and healthy eating) that have the power to improve student's academic performance and family quality of life."
