Barwin's Biking For a Good Cause

Posted Apr 15, 2016

Friday was a great day for bike ride in Philadelphia.

Taking advantage of the beautiful day, defensive end Connor Barwin joined in with city officials and over 100 other cyclists for a cycling celebration at Race Street Pier. The event was held to kick off the opening weekend for Circuit Trails, a regional trail network of hundreds of miles of multi-use trails that is growing in size each year, spanning nine different counties in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

During the celebration, Circuit Trails unveiled a new look and a new campaign aiming to challenge people from around the region to get out and ride and to explore the hundreds of miles of trails throughout the Philadelphia area.

“I love cycling because you learn about the city you live in when you cycle,” said Barwin, who frequently rides his bike down to the NovaCare Complex for his commute. “You meet people and find things along the way, things you can’t do in a car.”

It’s no real surprise that Barwin decided to team up with Circuit Trails. Since signing with the Eagles prior to the 2013 season, Barwin has dedicated all the time that he can towards revitalizing Philadelphia public parks, helping provide sustainable energy to Philadelphia homes and other philanthropic efforts. Barwin’s “Go Green” initiatives, including riding his bike and taking public transportation to get around the city, show just how much he is dedicated toward making the world a better place.
