During any Eagles practice, the best back-and-forth trash talk usually takes place between the cornerbacks and the wide receivers. Cornerback
When asked which receivers around the league Asomugha considers the best, the Eagles' All-Pro provided the following answer:
"I guess if you're going to sit up there and play man against a guy, then that's a different story," he said. "If that was the case, there aren't guys that stand out in my mind in that way. There are a handful of guys that are really good at what they're doing from the receiver position, which is the easiest position in the NFL. There are a handful of guys that are good at it. There's not one particular guy that would concern me when I'm going into a game, but there are guys that you have to take notice of in the league."
Pressed on his comment about wide receivers being the "easiest," Asomugha explained.
"I think if you talk to any cornerback in the league, we'll probably all tell you that," he said. "We go back and forth talking trash with our own teammates about it, 'Oh, all you have to do is go out there and catch a ball.' You know where you're going, we have no idea but we have to be perfect at it. So it's always fun banter going back and forth. Every position is difficult, but obviously receiver is ... my goodness."
That banter between the positions in practice doesn't subtract from the team's camaraderie though. Asomugha said that he believes the Eagles will benefit in 2012 from a better sense of team.
"We were doing practice sessions without the coaches, we were doing practice sessions and getting together with guys as far back as February with the team, so just being able to get to know each other better, the comfort level just raises for everyone, whether we're current players or the newer players," Asomugha said. "Everybody just becomes a little more comfortable. And then, I would say defensively, just being able to have some more time under the system, us with our defensive coaches being able to cut out a lot of the things that just didn't work for our defense and for the style of players that we have and to build off of the positive things that did work for us. So all of that time right there and all of that stuff right there makes it more comfortable."
