3 Eagles Named To All-Pro Team

Posted Jan 3, 2014

Running back LeSean McCoy, offensive tackle Jason Peters and left guard Evan Mathis have been named to the Associated Press first-team, All-Pro team, announced on Friday.

It's McCoy's second selection as a first-team All-Pro (2011) and the selection is the third overall for Peters, who was named a second-team All-Pro in 2010 anid a first-team pick in 2011.

The All-Pro honor for Mathis is his first.

McCoy, of course, led the NFL in rushing with 1,607 yards and topped the league with 2,146 rushing yards and was named to his second Pro Bowl team. He earned 48 of 50 votes for the All-Pro team, behind only Denver quarterback Peyton Manning (50), New Orleans tight end Jimmy Graham (49) and Indianapolis defensive end Robert Mathis (49). Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman also garnered 48 votes.

Peters, who missed all of last season with a torn Achilles tendon, was named last week for the sixth time to the Pro Bowl team as he started all 16 games and led an Eagles offense that ranked first in the league in points scored and second in yardage.

Mathis, acquired as an unrestricted free agent in 2011, was not voted onto the Pro Bowl team, but he earned his due in this vote. He has been a rock at left guard for the offense with his athletic ability and strength inside.

Peters and Mathis became the Eagles first offensive line tandem to earn All-Pro recognition since left tackle Tra Thomas and right guard Jermane Mayberry were honored in the 2002 season.
