As simple as a screen pass sounds, it requires perfect timing and execution to work, or it can lead to a big loss or a turnover. It is a risky pass to throw, generally over a handful of defenders rushing the quarterback, and the pass hangs in the air to give the defense a split second to react. In the case of the screen pass from Donovan McNabb to Brian Westbrook in the fourth quarter of Sunday's win over Washington, the Eagles played it perfectly for every one of the many steps needed to hit a home run ...  FULL STORY

Running Back Brian Westbrook
"I saw big Jon Runyan getting out there and pulling hard and running down the field. I saw Shawn Andrews getting another big block. I saw Reggie Brown get another big block and a fullback (Thomas Tapeh) throwing another block. That screen was really a play that shows how much a team game this really is, and how much the team really wanted it. Our offensive line did a great job of getting down the field, throwing blocks across the board, all of them. Reggie making a big block at the end. That was a real team play and our team did a great job on that play."

Tackle Jon Runyan
"They were blitzing off that edge. My first responsibility is to make sure you turn the end goes on the side you're turning free because technically I don't get out on that play unless the guy slants inside and runs inside. You have to look for the linebacker, which usually has the back man-to-man and he happened to be blocked by Thomas (Tapeh). I got up the field, turned around and there was a guy chasing. The guys that usually chase the play are the ones that make it because if a back has to make someone miss down the field, he gets hit from behind. I just turned around and tried to block him (Cornelius Griffin). Well, I saw him coming from about four steps (away) and I'm just looking - I'm like 'This is going to hurt.' I thought he saw me, but clearly he didn't."

Guard Shawn Andrews
"Did you see that? What I was trying to do was just help my teammates out. The guy (weakside linebacker Rocky McIntosh) kind of got loose and I heard my name being called (by Jamaal Jackson) and I looked back inside, I felt like I was being called for a reason. I had the reason and I took care of that reason ... It was unbelieveable (how Donovan sold the play fake). We work on things so much and the screen is one of the plays that we go on over and over sometimes. It worked out, we all did our jobs and we get to go home happy ... If you give a guy like Westbrook that kind of space, he going to take it and do something great with it."
