You knew this was coming, you just didn't know when. After signing quarterback Jeff Garcia last week, the Eagles had six quarterbacks on the roster. On Monday, the team trimmed that number by two, releasing Mike McMahon and Andy Hall.
Hall, a sixth-round draft pick in 2004, did not see any game action with the Eagles in his two seasons bouncing between the active roster and the practice squad.
McMahon started seven games last season after Donovan McNabb was injured and completed 45.4 percent of his passes with 5 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. He compiled a 55.2 passer rating in that time.
Garcia made McMahon expendable when the Eagles signed the former 49ers, Browns and Lions signal-caller to a one-year deal. Still to be resolved is the third quarterback spot, currently manned by veteran Koy Detmer. Also on the roster is Timmy Chang, who completed 6 of 13 passes for 59 passes in his NFL Europe debut with the Rhein Fire.
