Guess how much things have changed for Mahe? He folded towels just the other day.
"No lie," Mahe said, laughing. "I folded towels for the equipment guys. That's just the way it is, I guess. There is no security when you are in my position."
And what position is that? Mahe has proven to be an invaluable Eagle for two seasons -- spot duty at halfback, lining up in the slot and catching passes, returning punts and kickoffs, covering on special teams.
Jack of all trades? Absolutely. That is what has kept Mahe in the bigs for these two seasons, and the ability to help in so many ways is keeping him very much in the picture in this training camp.

Mahe had 23 carries for 91 yards last season and added another 14 receptions, five special teams tackles and 109 yards on 19 punt returns. In a game against Cleveland, Mahe had 18 yards on two receptions to help set up David Akers
for the game-winning field goal in overtime.
He did just enough little things to maybe, just maybe, provide some security in his career, right?
Wrong.
The Eagles had Brian Westbrook
coming off a Pro Bowl season, they signed Correll Buckhalter in free agency and they drafted Ryan Moats in the third round in April.
The numbers are the numbers. How many halfbacks will the Eagles keep?
"I know people are counting me out. That's fine," he says. "I accept that. That fuels me. I want to prove them wrong.
"Every week is like this for me. I'm a humble person. I'm not Brian Westbrook. I'm not Donovan McNabb
. I have a role on this team, and I'm proud of my role. I know what my role is and I try to do my role to the best of my ability.
"If I have to jump in and do something, anything, I'm fine with that. Anything to help the team."
Mahe had perfect attendance in the Eagles' off-season conditioning program, working out four times per week. He played basketball for the undefeated Eagles team and "prepared for this kind of pounding."
And what a pounding it has been. When Mahe was referred to as "overworked" in a recent newspaper story, he laughed. He was proud of that label. With Westbrook out through the first week of camp and with Buckhalter (knee), Moats (concussion) and Bruce Perry (concussion) out at various points in camp, Mahe has received a bunch of reps.
"That's kind of cool. I want the work. I'm happy to get all of these reps," he says. "I've been OK in camp. I dropped some passes the other day -- that doesn't happen. That can't happen. I can correct those things. I need to correct those things."
When Monday rolls around, Mahe is likely to play quite a bit. He knows he is building a portfolio for the league to see. Whether it is here or in any of the other 31 cities, Mahe wants to find a home in the NFL.
"I want it to be here," he says. "That is what I'm working for. Anything they want, I'll do it."
