On the fact that he was on HBO this past week making comments about Jeff Garcia: "I was answering the questions. What do you want me to do just stare at the camera? It shouldn't even be about Jeff and me. I just want to come out here and practice and get ready for the game. I'm not going to be on the field the same time he is going to be on the field so it shouldn't be about us."
On how the tension between him and Jeff Garcia started: "What do you mean? Did you read the book? There you go."
On whether he will try to talk to Jeff Garcia: "Nope. For what? I'm playing the Cleveland Browns, that's all I want to concentrate on. If this is what this press conference is going to be about then I don't want to do it. If this is what this press conference is going to be I don't want to talk to about it."
On how good the Eagles can be: "This team can be as good as it wants to be. I feel like we have some things going now. Obviously as a team and as an offense we didn't feel like we played like we should have last week. We get a chance this week to correct our mistakes and eliminate some of the mistakes that we made and try to get better from it."
On whether it's nitpicking to be concerned with the mistakes: "I just think it's being professional, a lot of guys that are really competitive, knowing that we can play better and want to get better."
On what impresses him about the Browns defense: "They're getting better. The last few ballgames that they played, on the defensive side of the ball they've gotten better so we just have to elevate our game and going into that type of environment we know we have to be on point."
On whether he's seen anything that he thinks the Browns will try to do to him to stop him: "Not really. That front seven, I'm pretty sure putting a lot of pressure on guys trying to stop the run. We just have to be accountable for what we do on offense. We really don't have to worry too much about what they're doing. It's going to be that way each week. We really shouldn't concentrate on what they're doing as far as what we're doing. I think the things that we've done the last couple of ballgames, we've sort of stopped ourselves with the number of penalties."
On his reaction to Jerry Rice being traded and whether he tried to get him here: "I had no input in trying to get him here but I feel happy for him. I think it was a situation where they should have done a while back. I feel like you have the greatest receiver in the game and there are reports that he's slowing down but if you don't put a guy in a situation to be productive then it's going to look like that. The guy can still play, I'm happy for him. I'm pretty sure he's really relieved to get a breath of fresh air. I'm pretty sure (Seahawks coach Mike) Holmgren will put him in situations to catch the ball."
On whether he ever thought Jerry Rice would get traded for a seventh-round pick: "I never really thought about it. I think for him he just wants to be productive. I think he can play on any team. He can play anywhere. I feel like they weren't giving him the ball. With the streak being broken, I thought that was very disrespectful. Then he goes another game without a catch. I feel like with that type of talent that he has and especially the guy that he is, if you put him in a situation to succeed, then he's going to go above and beyond that."
On what playing in a hostile environment does for him: "It just revs me up a little bit. That's a part of playing my position. I know I have to go in there and be mentally focused and this is part of it. They can't be any rowdier than going into the black hole. I played there in Oakland and when I came here when I was a 49er, it was really hostile and they were on me here. It's nothing different. You just have to go out there and our play will quiet the crowd down a little bit."
On whether he could imagine playing as long as Jerry Rice: "No. You try to just take it year by year. I think after my fifth year or so, it goes by so fast. I don't really think about playing that number of years. I think if you take care of your body then it will take care of itself and that's pretty much what he's done over the course of the years. You hear about how he works hard and how he takes care of his body and this is the result of it, you get that number of years."
On whether he thinks he plays better when there is some type of controversy during the course of the week: "I don't know. I think I tend to play a little better. I think I tend to concentrate probably a little bit more. It's not me just going out and playing better. I ask God to just be with me and let my actions and my play do the talking for me. I'm not a guy that really talks a lot on the field. I just go out there and play, sometimes with controversy I just have to let go and let God take care of everything."
On if he thinks the media looks for something each week to stir up controversy: "Yeah. It's sad. I'm a smart guy; I know what they're trying to get at. It's going to be that way probably for the next three to four ballgames. So I know what lies ahead. Next week I'll be sitting here telling you guys I don't want to talk about the Ray Lewis thing,' then I have to go to Dallas so I'm ahead of the game."
