Report: St. Andrews Restructures Contract
Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that Eagles offensive lineman Stacy Andrews has restructured his contract.
"Eagles OL Stacy Andrews restructured his contract Monday, lowering his 2010 base salary from $2.95 million to $1.15 million. Bonus also paid," tweeted Schefter.
Andrews was signed as a free agent last off-season after a productive career as a Cincinnati Bengal. Andrews underwent reconstructive knee surgery in January of 2009 and was unable to work himself into the starting lineup for the Eagles in 2009 while still recovering from the procedure and adjusting to the new system.
Andrews, 6-foot-7, 342 pounds, indicated earlier this off-season that he would be willing to restructure his contract in order to return to Philadelphia and make an impact as a starter at right guard in 2010. The other interior linemen on the Eagles roster include two restricted free agents, Max Jean-Gilles and Nick Cole, as well as Mike McGlynn, Todd Herremans and A.Q. Shipley.
UPDATE: Geoff Mosher of Delaware Online tweeted: "Source: Stacy Andrews will get $4.1 million roster bonus, will be Eagle. Adam Schefter reported that Andrews agreed to lower salary in 2010."

Why are the Andrew brothers still on the team? I'd rather have the Andrew sisters instead. IMO

Like trying to win a road race with retread tires. And @ IMTHEWAGON...I am a supporter of Andy Reid as well. Winning allot of games is key. But in the end, you need that Lombardi in your hand or it is all for nothing. I'd give up 2 or 3 of those winning seasons for 1 Superbowl ring.

people easy easy... just bcuz you dont win with a roster dosent mean you couldn have won with the roster!! peyton didnt win for years in indy.. with better squads then the team he won with..so we need to change and tweak schemes..which has been adressed with TWO GREAT SIGNINGS.. April, and D... gotta love a football guy with that name haha..special teams and the dbs will fix itself... weve already gained on tha "dick" signing buy bringing in marlin jackson which he knows alot about, since he coached against him two games a year. so grab 2 or 3 O-linemen (4th or later round in the draft or a low key free agent)and build the D with the first three picks(order i dont care about anymore) grab a rb late 3rd(even tho i feel mccoy is the best back since.. well ever in our uni) and we're good!STOP B!%CHING

while players are getting moolah in other team uniforms, eagles are signing and saving. Can't be a bad solution, considering that we still have all our qb's (still) and most of our team. No key losses as of yet like kyle vandenbosch going to the lions and others as well in that category. I can't complain. the only guy I would've like to see here is peppers, but thats neither here nor there now. besides, if he is a bust this year, you know how we as eagles fans would have reacted.

Glad to hear this willingness by Stacy Andrews. I am trying to stay optimistic Andrews will work hard and be a dominating force this year. Anyone that has a tear in the knee knows how long it takes to fully recover, usually closer to 2 years. Lets hope that is the case.

I believe in the Eagles even though we haven't won the big one. It's easy to bi**h from a fans standpoint. We are investing in an O-line and we have one of the youngest and talent Offensive teams as it is between, Maclin, Jackson, Mccoy, and Celek. Weaver is the best FB we've had in a very long time. We need a few pieces on D, but I am very optimistic.

Andy Reid is one of the most successful head coaches in NFL history. After taking over a 3-13 club on January 11, 1999, Reid has been simply masterful in turning the Eagles into one of the NFL's elite teams. During his tenure, Reid has earned NFL coach of the year honors twice, compiled the best win total (107), winning percentage (.611), and playoff victory total (10) in team history. He has captured five division titles and five trips to the NFC Championship game. In 2008, Reid became the 37th head coach in NFL history to reach the 100-win plateau. In addition, he became only the 22nd coach to win 100 games with one franchise and the 17th coach to reach the century mark in wins during his first stint as a head coach. Among coaches with 100 games under their belt, Reid's winning percentage is 2nd among active coaches (Bill Belichick is first).

The free agency has nothing out there that makes me say change what is working and has worked. Keep your guys happy. In fact to be honest if they need to get rid of anyone I think it should be Marty Mornigweig, I dont think he does a great job of game planning, when things arent working the guys dont have anything else but to keep trying to make it work. All this bashing of Reid and his decisions, when he has kept us as a consistant formidable team, is BS.

Then Reid can concentrate on getting his team all healthy and staying that way, hopefully use Vick as bait for a really nice trade from a desperate team, and with young recievers and backs that have proven they can play very well and get better, a veteran QB that without injuries, can lead this team very well, and if he's down Kolb has proven he's not the complete bum I thought he was, the prospect of Ingram coming back and being everything we hope he is, then, like I said before, with the defense that in my opinion only needs a really good versitile safety or 2, we have the ingredients for another decade of greatness and hopefully that superbowl ring that all of us want badly.

Kobrah 03/08/10 8:55 pm ET |
And DMac, as far as our defense, no they weren't what we are used to, but you cant forget about us having 2 really great corners, arguably the best in the league, and having a D-line that only needs a little bit of work to be a formidable 4 man rush. In fact, with Bradley back in the only defensive position I see a problem with is safety.

Jaime, I also agree with you. The Andrews brothers have great track records when they are healthy, and have the potential to really add to the line. Or at the very least create enough compitition for a start to improve everyone else. Andrew_short, to bring witherspoon into this is uncalled for. Why keep him around when in the coming season you have a proven MLB in Bradley who can be out there no matter what the opposing offense is doing. No more rotating them around.

Jaime, I gotta agree. stacey should have another chance. After McNab had 2 years(wasted 2008) for his, and we will be glad for the depth when injuries happen. That being said Shawn has to be on his last chance. The money being paid is outlandish for a guy who is a head case witha bad back. as for not signing anyone due to the CBA not in place and therefore the lack of free agents, there just isnt that much out there and why pay top dollar for talent that isnt top notch.

I'm as frustrated as everyone else with their situation, but both of them can play when they aren't hampered by injuries, and I hope for their sake and for the Eagles sake that they stay healthy this season and prove everyone who trashed them wrong.
|
jamie17 03/08/10 7:10 pm ET |
I will have to disagree with both of you. It's obvious after this that they would've cut him if he didn't agree to restructure, but at the new price he's a good guy to have around with his upside. If he gets his knee healthy he can at least be a good backup and he's now making backup lineman money. You can never have too many good lineman, and I think it's wrong to fault guys for not bouncing back right away from an injury. When you're that big, you won't be able to plant on that knee until it's 100% healed. I just hope Shawn restructures his contract. We all know he's a great player when he does play, but he also doesn't deserve to make big bucks to rehab for 2 years+. Here's to hoping that both Andrews brothers get healthy and run block for Lesean McCoy like we all know they can.

honestly WHO GIVES A FLYING #$%^ this team is doing everything they dont need to do in the worst possible ways... way to disapoint andy the "ass licker" reid how about we restructure his contract instead and crumple it in a ball and kick it out the window that would be the best thing that could happen to this team . lets face it our defense blew really badly in sevral different areas and they need to be fixed in order for the eagles to succeeed
