Could Maclin Be The Celek Of The 2010 Season?

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin
had a postseason debut to remember. The first-round draft pick caught seven passes for a franchise playoff-record 146 receiving yards and a touchdown. It wasn't just any touchdown, but a 76-yard catch-and-run which was the longest pass play in Eagles' playoff history.
Maclin also became the youngest player (21 years old) to catch a touchdown in the playoffs.
However, Maclin's efforts were not enough as the Eagles lost 34-14 to the Dallas Cowboys in the wild card round of the NFC playoffs.
"It's unfortunate. It's a little frustrating and that's pretty much it," Maclin said. "I'm still not going say they are better than us. They did a good job of coming out and playing football. But I'll still take my guys over anybody else in the league … They came up with some good things to throw us off-guard. If you look at personnel, I'm not going to say they are better than us. I think they played better than us today and last week."
Last year, tight end Brent Celek carried the momentum of an outstanding postseason into the following regular season. Celek had 19 catches for 151 yards and three touchdowns in the 2008 playoffs. Celek set a team-playoff record with 10 catches and added 83 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the NFC title game.
Celek parlayed that into a breakout season in his first year as a full-time starter. Celek had a team-high 76 catches for 971 yards and eight touchdowns.
Could Maclin, who took over the starting job early in the season, be the one to watch in 2010?
Maclin isn't thinking about that right now.
"I guess I'll look at that in a few days. But right now, I'm still competitive," Maclin said. "I am looking forward to the future, but I wanted to win. Everybody in this locker room wanted to win. Next year is the last on my mind right now. We are all thinking about things we could have done to change the outcome of that game."
Not that Maclin's rookie numbers were anything to scoff at. He had 55 catches for 762 yards and four touchdowns. Those numbers might have been more impressive if DeSean Jackson didn't have a great rookie year just last season.
Now, it's almost expected that rookie wide receivers can make an impact in Andy Reid's offense. Who would have thought that just two years ago?
But Maclin understands that just because the Eagles won 11 games this year and made the playoffs, that means nothing when it comes to 2010.
"Don't take anything for granted. That's what it comes down to," Maclin said. "You're never promised the next play. You're never promised another chance. Cherish the moment."

Maclin has one heck of a head on his shoulders! Great work, I love the way he talked honest and humble.. Great for a rookie WR.. and people.. he hasn't started all 16 games either! so his numbers were really really good. He only started to get involved in the 4th week or so.

jrcanna..
Stewart Bradley will never be an "all pro"
This is Felix Jones "Second" year
he was injured "all" of last season
and 4 weeks of this season
McCoy is a scrub not a star
Stewart Bradley wouldnt even MAKE the Dallas team
Ware > Bradley
Bradie James > Bradley
Brooking > Bradley
Anthony Spencer > Bradley
get over your terrible Eagles Team

and not to mention all the new additions to the team this team was young when Stew comes back add a couple draft picks (I wish Eric Berry) but ill take Taylor Mays Shady and Maclin will have another year to grow Celek will become a star Ingram will be introduced my other question is this though why did we destroy the linebacker corps Akeem and Chris lost there jobs why i seen nothin from Fokuo or Trotter the linebacker corps should of been Witherspoon at mike Gocong and Sam and Akeem at Will the defense was decent at that time i know injuries messed it up but when they change that it messed all the chemistry up

Wow, since all Cowboys fans can write are dumb, mentally retarded things....how do you feel about what your own sports writers have to say about you? The following was written by Phil Sheridan, the sports columnist for the Inquirer on July 28, 2009:
"The list just keeps getting longer.
You know the highlights: booing Santa, cheering Michael Irvin's apparent paralysis, a stadium that required its own courtroom to handle the volume of arrests for drunken hooliganism. You can't help but know them, because they are recited like a litany every time some national broadcaster or journalist or blogger wants to take an easy shot at Philadelphia and its sports fans.
Two incidents Saturday reinforce the city's national image and raise, for roughly the billionth time, the question of why Philadelphia seems to be the epicenter of horrific fan behavior."

If you ever see a cowboys fan ask them where they are from in texas.
because normally they are from jersey or the main line.
chances are if u are a cowboys fan your a degenerate that only likes them to piss people off, all the while not realizing how pathetic of a person you truly are.
have you seen that stadium in arlington? jerry jones is clearly the antichrist.

wow cowboys fans r so proud they won against the worst offensive and defensive coaches in football wow, r u actually happy with that, the eagles went with the same game plan as a week ago, its sad the few times they ran it was successful but marty is a handidart, why is he our coodinator he doesnt mix up the pay calling i mean it take no effort for defensive coordinator to plan the for the birds cuz marty will call the same play 4 or 5 times in a game because he got 3 yards off it once.

Yeah Maclin. The Cowboys beat your pathetic, dirty a*ses down three times this year, but they aren't a better team. What a freaking joke. Apparently Maclin lives in the same fantasy land with Deshauna Jackson, who was supposedly going to "sting they a*s", whatever that's supposed to mean (hey Deshauna, we speak ENGLISH in America...but maybe not in ghettodelphia). Maybe Donovan "black on black crime" McNothing can focus more time on becoming an accurate passer, or not making lame excuses for being such an immature, lame a*s moron, and less time on retarded pre game dances and banging on the glass at Cowboy's stadium. Have a good offseason Iggles fans. Your team's a joke.

It is true texs333....look it up on Wikipedia. Lincoln Financial Field opened up in 2003 with a jailcell included in the stadium. Before that, Veterans Stadium had one as well. All I'm saying is that if your OWN TEAM AND OWNERSHIP feels that their fans need to be incarcerated....that's saying something. Enough said!

Really yuribobers? REALLY???? You know what winners do? They win. You know what losers do? They make excuses and talk about what went wrong. Sorry, but your team is nothing but a bunch of big talkers ala Jackson and his "tweets". After seeing your explanation for your teams meltdown, I can see why you cheer for the Eagles....you fit right in. By the way, if the Cowboys fans were really the crappiest fans in the league I guess Jerry Jones would have built a jailcell in his new stadium for them. No wait....that's already been done in Philadelphia to hold all of those stupid Eagles fans!!!! Sorry, you lose......again!

I love how Cowboys fans have to go back to the 1993 superbowl wins. What have they done in the last 13 years? NOTHING. Let's keep it in THIS decade.
|
yuribobers@... 01/10/10 1:41 pm ET |
okay first off,Eagles are definetly not the crappiest fans,I meen sorry if we get confident because we always get in the playoffs, and almost always win.Cowboys fan's are actually the worst, they win one game in the last 13 years, and think that their big shots now...lol...Keep thinking your big shots, its gonna be even funnier when you lose, again, like you always do.And he wont say their a better team because they arnt,oh wait, with all our better players injured coming back from injuries, maybe the team out there yesterday was worse, not next year, sorry cowgirls
|
rwhited2@... 01/10/10 1:17 pm ET |
Hey Maclin...you're still not ready to say that the Cowboys are better than your guys huh? Really? REALLY???? Let me remind you of something else....not only did they play better than you this and last week....but ALSO earlier in the season as well. How can you honestly say with a straight face that you're better than a team that has beaten you three times in one season and a combined beating of 58-14 in a six day span????? Get real. You and you're other receiver buddy keep talking about how good you are while us Cowboys keep showing it everytime we play!!!! Have a good off-season. :)

jmsmith2010@... 01/10/10 1:04 pm ET |
hey jx, dont forget the 5 super bowl wins for the cowboys and the...well how many wins do the eagles have anyway???
|
jx1911@... 01/10/10 1:00 pm ET |
Eagles are 7 and 1 in the first playoff game, Cowboys are ... 1-4. It only took the Cowboys 13 years to finally win a playoff game. So enjoy this moment, because I know it took long enough to come. Congratulations on your first playoff win in 13 years, that is ... great.
|
jx1911@... 01/10/10 12:55 pm ET |
Bottom line, Eagles are a finesse team, and they need to use the off season to get more physical on both sides of the ball.
I've said it for years, if you take away the big plays, you take away the Eagles offense. The offense needs to get more physical so they can produce a grind it out offense.
Defense's front seven needs a major revamp, I'd love to see them get a Urlacher/R. Lewis type middle line backer and a Haynesworth type interior lineman to give them a more physical presence. The announcer said it last night, it was speed versus strength and strength won.

What's the matter, iggles? Cat got your tongue?
|
jmsmith2010@... 01/10/10 12:46 pm ET |
fly eagles, fly your a.s.s back to the crap hole of a town you come from with the crappiest fans in all of sports. the fans got what they deserved, remember this beating the next time you throw snow balls at a couple that only wanted to see their team play even if they were going to lose. yall just keep thinking about that 44-6 victory (yall the only ones thinking bout it btw) and hopefully it will keep you together till next year. but until next year have fun watching them COWBOYS move up in the playoffs. GIVE US PROPS, WE WUPT YOUR A.S.S BIG TIME AND CANT WAIT TO DO IT AGAIN NEXT YEAR. PEACE

Jim.Sawyer@... 01/10/10 12:39 pm ET |
You little liberals up there in that dismal city didn't really expect the iggles to compete with AMERICA'S TEAM did you? The iggles only exist so the Cowboys will have opponents. So come on... learn to vote republican and support the Cowboys and you'll be grown-ups too. I'll bet that next year whats-his-namne (you know, that little #10 that tweets rather than taking his team seriously) will be pulling for the COWBOYS!!!
Cheers!!!
