Eagles Sign Justice To Long-Term Extension

November 24, 2009 | Last Updated: 11/24/09 11:38 AM ET | Comments (4)

The Eagles have signed right tackle Winston Justice to a four-year contract extension through 2013. Justice's rookie contract was due to expire at season's end.

Justice grabbed hold of a starting spot on the offensive line in 2009 with a strong off-season and training camp, and he has started all 10 games at right tackle for the Eagles this season.

Justice has credited staying in Philadelphia during the off-season to work closely with offensive line coach Juan Castillo as one of the biggest reasons for his improvement, and it appears he'll be staying in Philadelphia for the foreseeable future.

Drafted in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft (39th overall) out of Southern California, the 6-foot-6, 320-pound Justice spent the majority of his first three seasons plying his trade behind long-time stalwarts Tra Thomas and Jon Runyan.

Justice will be made available to the media at 2 PM.

I have to say, much respect to Winston Justice...He's the very model of a true Eagle...he worked his but off, coming a long way from the 6 sack game of two yrs ago...to be the starting right tackle and secure an extention.....That's the never say die attitude that gleams throughout this organization.....Congratulations to him!!!!!...Now keep them suckers off #5 and lets get to that Super Bowl......

This is a surprise to me. Could this be the writing on the wall for the ALWAYS injured Shawn Andrews? Stacy Andrews is also a RT by trade. The Eagles have a ton of money invested in the Andrews brothers so I'm surprised they gave Justice an extension. I'm sure he didn't sign for peanuts either.

Take that all you naysayers. That is everyone on this site. I had not seen one nice comment about justice in all the years he had been here. When i had him on my 53 man roster in training camp along with 8 other linemen everyone jumped on me. I said i was hoping for a big camp and an improvement this year and everybody wrote him off. Nobody expected him to make the team let alone contribute. Its a testament to his fortitude to brush off all that criticism and refine his craft. Way to go Justice; just dont get complacent...Still have a long way to go to be considered Pro Bowl talent.

Wow! The resurgence of Justice is quite remarkable. I was nervous that he was still on the team these past few years but geez if he continues to improve and makes the probowl next season perhaps, this would be one heck of a story. I thought about buying his jersey out of respect but I get irked with all the religious fanaticism in his interviews. I just hope those angels or ghosts that move his feet and deliver blocks continue to support him.
