We don't NEED a top receiver, and please stop saying T.O. got us to the SB. T.O. played no part in the Eagles getting into the SB. He was HURT for the playoffs. The Eagles got to the SB with T.O. on the sidelines. T.O. didn't get the Eagles to the SB. We don't NEED a top reciever, but I would love to see Boldin come to Philly. I've personally been a fan of Boldin since his FSU days =)

It will be a great oppurtunity if we had Marvin Harrison on our team since he already knows and has the feeling for the game.......

It's a shame the Eagles couldn't have included Reggie Brown for nothing extra in return.

Marvin Harrison ain't bad but he is getting a little old

i still think marvin harrison would be a good tutor for djax, and he already knows 5's tendencies. i also like knowshon better than beanie. more raw talent and less fragile.

look one rookie reciever is enough i dont mind if you pick up kenny britt, heyward-bey or someone like that maybe robiske but we need a RB that can get us the tough yards at the goal line. Some like Beanie Wells and Shonn Greene from Iowa could gives that boost u no like a heavy set but still a little quick

I liked Lewis, but his production after the first game was so minimal, I'm just glad we got something for him. If we're going to get a WR in the draft, I'd go with Heyward-Bey in 1st or Robiskie in 2nd. But I actually like our WR corps for the first time in years. I really want a good all-around RB though.

well, doncraw, the only sensible possibility (not that the Eagles have a sensible FO lately) is that they are stockpiling draft choices to use either to trade up in the draft or as part of a trade for Boldin that's all but done. He's in his prime, would have Jackson and Curtis beside him, which is better than just Fitz if Jackson continues to develop quickly, and would tell McNabb, "See, look what we got you" putting those trade rumors to rest. I like my thinking here.

he never tickled my fancy anyway... A few good catches here and there.
Marvin Harrison isnt the only receiver left. Joey Galloway, who is really good, in my opinion, is still available too.

I agree mmoxley, don, greg lewis was last in recieving on our team last year, with reggie brown trailing closely...why NOT trade for a draft pick with more upside?
|
mmoxley 03/06/09 10:18 am ET |
don - trade bait or a move to get younger backups with more up side.
|
doncraw 03/06/09 9:25 am ET |
Lewis was a hard worker and will be a very effective Pat. I do wonder why we needed yet another pick in this years draft. i think we are up to 13 now? are we planning on having 13 rookies on the roster next year? If so then it seems like we are beginning the rebuilding process.

I can't say I mind Lewis being gone. As far as comments saying we need T.O.... you've lost your mind. That guy is a locker room disease.
|
joloj58 03/06/09 8:20 am ET |
I liked the guy for what he's worth. He is a little too small, he almost looks fragile. I'm surprised he never collapsed under the weight of his shoulder pads

Ummm, who do we have left in FA? Harrison? oh boy, here we go again philly.

glad hes gone, he can go fumble a punt return an lose a couple of games for the Pats

this is the thing. Greg though would catch a good ball every now and then, I think that he hurt us when it would count the most. No one was ever scared of him, and now with DeSean being a threat, and we know Curtis can be, we need that one guy to be undetected in the middle of the field. Everyone is talking Britt, but the one name that I think we should get if we can, is Hakeem Nicks from UNC. He is a beast, almost the same build and catching ability of T.O. and everyone is mad at T.O. for talking ish, but the fact still remains, we have not found that one guy that can do what he has done for this team. Oh...did I mention that we should draft Hakeem Nicks...

I have to put my two cents worth in about this trade. All I can say is............FINALLY! Lewis (Alligator Arms) drove me crazy! He's a 5th or 6th string WR at best. Good ridence. PLease upgrade this position....and NOT with T. Dufus!

guglielmi.nick@... 03/05/09 10:50 pm ET |
i don't think we need go after a guy like crabtree beause we'd have to trade up to get him and we need all of our top picks. We should take a guy like Brian Robiske because we can use our second first round pick or maybe even trade back to get him and pile up even more picks. Brian Robiske is slightly bigger than Crabtree and his dad is an nfl receiver coach. He can be an imediate impact which is what we need.

daryhmer121@... 03/05/09 9:11 pm ET |
First of all its about time we let him go. Now we just have a bunch of no.2 and no.3 receivers. We dont have a definite no.1. We let houshmanzadeh slide to the seahawks. Nobody really wants to sign harrison. Nate Washington signed already so that leaves us with the best available, T.O. Thing is were not gonna get him back bcuz its to much drama. But he was a no.1 receiver and we went to the super bowl and almost won. Moving up for Crabtree would be easier now that he is hurt cuz teams might not wanna take the risk but if any team was smart they would get him cuz when that ankle heals he'll be a beast. Now if the Eagles decide to draft a reciever if Crabtree isnt there they should go with Kenny Britt from Rutgers or Brandon Tate from UNC. They are both tall physical recievers and thats what the Eagles need. I do believe that if we were to get a free agent it should be harrison. Donovan McNabb needs to get the help he deserves.

I swear, some of you people know nothing about the NFL. If you think I might be talking about you, then you're probably right. - It's unlikely we get Boldin, but don't say Boldin is just like TO. Boldin only spoke out about wanting a new contract. He never mouthed off about his team, and the argument with his OC in the NFC Championship game was...., well, wouldn't you be mad if you were a top 10 WR sitting on the bench during the most important drive of your career. He wasn't crying about not getting the ball while he was on the field, he was pissed because he wasn't on the field. Plus, what are these unwanted distractions he's always causing. You mean when he got his entire face broken, had to undergo reconstructive surgery and was back on the field 4 weeks later catching 9 balls for 63 yards and 2 TDs and also 1 rush for 30 yards. Yeah, Boldin's a problem, sure.

We a LG,RG,C,TE,WR,FS,SS,FB,RB,CB i say rg and lg b'cuz we have nick cole playing 3 pos as the depth chart stands 2nite. that's 10 spots with 12 picks we should pick VERY wisely this draft! and we should b fine. what do yous think?
|
cccrash 03/05/09 8:10 pm ET |
The youth movement is nice, but with all of these trades and FA farewells, there are a lot of holes to fill! We need to sign a FS, AND a back-up CB, as well as one more OL (why did they not go after Matt Birk and shift Jamal down to RG??) in free agency so they can package draft picks to move up--gotta get a RB, stud DE, tall WR, and TE in the first day of the draft!!

ny2000ramtough@... 03/05/09 6:41 pm ET |
Signing Boldin to the squad would be a mistake. Like Owens, he is known for drawing unwanted attention to himself and causing distractions. I would hope the F.O. learned their lessons from T.O. and pass on Boldin and concentrate on players who are TEAM players and not in it for their own personal glory. Harrison would be good as a 3rd W.R., but his days as a starter are over and his gun shyness about getting hit again will only result in more injuries and time lost on the field. We need stability and durability, not 1 or 2 game wonderboys who can't sustain their performance for an entire season.
