im truly going to miss dawkins.like i said he was tha heart and soul of tha team and city but truly yall should know he did us alittle dirty!!i will admit that tha eagles is kind of cheap lol but we offered him a two year deal that guaranteed him all tha money in tha contract and then tha broncos offered him a contract..tha eagles was going to raise tha money and counteroffer but tha eagles found out just like us when he sign with tha broncos..now that was alittle dirty if you ask me..tha big picture is he was greedy and he not evn gone play all tha five years..we was about to offer him a perfect contact to retire as a eage but he didnt give us time..i looked at that press conference with tha broncos and he didnt seem to excited anyway..much love im gonna miss him though it will be ashame if we win a super bowl without him!!

God bless Brian Dawkins and his family. This hurts. I'll always be an Eagles fan but this just stings a little too deep. Yeah, yeah, he's an older player. But he has production left in him and should have been extended in contract. Maybe he didn't like the deal Philly gave him. I can't fault him for being a man and trying to look after the years ahead and his family. Think of all the punishment he's dealt out with his body. I just bought a new BDawk jersey and will wear it proudly. He is an Eagle at heart and always will be. His top class character alone speaks volumes. Hall of Fame material indeed. Irreplaceable.

Seing Dawk leave is probably one of the worst things I have seen since bleeding green,BUT its just the Front office and the way they run things. They make transactions to "compete" and they cannot grasp the concept of making transactions "to win championships".Look at all of these years where we went 1-5 in nfc championship games.Sheesh come on.We should be a freakin dynasty by now.McNabb numbers are stellar with barely average receivers.Defense is always working for us.But so many receivers had look right over philly to other teams.Eagles front office please start making decisions so we can win championships and not just to be competitive!Tomorrow is not always guaranteed.

You can't let this happen Philly, Dawkins is a warrior on the field and in the locker room. He provides direction and leadership to both the youth in the locker room and the youth in the community. Players like him don't come around often, and we just lost him to the Broncos of all teams. Just shows that the front office is all about saving money instead of winning, and I am lifelong Bird and very disappointed in what has happened this offseason. You better believe I will be wearing a #20 Broncos jersey next season as well.

landis_josh_e@... 03/03/09 1:42 pm ET |
we do this year after year. The front office does what they think is best for the team not what they think is best for the fans. Dawk is a warrior but are they supposed to pay him what the BRONCOS gave him no that would have made no sense at all. YES at the end of last year he looked great but what about when he has to come up and cover a young big WR and they run right by him, I say DENVER will regret signing him because he is great in the run game but in the pass game he has lost a step which is the reason that we let him go. Take a look at the end of the CARDS game who was on the field helping Sheldon over the top thats rite it was DEMPS they knew then that we needed to get younger in that position. GOOD LUUCK DAWK WE ALL WILL MISS U, U WERE A GREAT PLAYER AND AM GLAD TO HAVE WATCHED YOU FOR THE LAST 13 YEARS. ALSO GLAD TO SEE YOU GOT PAID YOU DESERVE IT FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE JUST WISH IT COULD HAVE BEEN HERE BUT LIKE THEY SAY IS A BUSINESS.

michaeledwardu40@... 03/03/09 1:27 pm ET |
He took the money he deserved he told the eagles what he wanted this offseason and before the last extension he signed. He wanted what he deserved he had taken a hometown paycut for 13 years in philly by almost 10% you try working for that after all you do for a team. this is all on the FO for this blunder.

Do you seriously think we're STUPID??
BRIAN DAWKINS TOOK THE MONEY AND RAN IT'S AS SIMPLE AS THAT.
How can you be in negotiations with the team and out of the blue Denver shows up....not hard to figure out eh?
If he was truly serious about finishing his career here, he should have gave the team a chance to match the offer.
But no, he said that he got a great offer elsewhere and did this thing like "Well I'm outta here guys."
C'mon now....the AFC WILL EAT HIM ALIVE it's that simple becuase that confrence is more wide open than the NFC...look at the talent over there...they will eat him alive.
Best of luck B-Dawk....YOU'LL NEED IT.

Lolol it's your Steeler fan again, I know I know you're all tired of hearing from me but here the awful Birds go again, getting rid of a great player & why ? Oh the stuck up ownership team who assumed that no one really wanted B Dawk well look where it got you. No leader on D none!! this will come back on the 'Birds. on ESPN 2 GM said the "Ownership group in Philly feel they can just pick & choose who to keep with out thinking prime time players have no options & around the entire League players are seeing the Eagles as a team that will not pay for top flight players" all the snobs like Banner & how many rings to the Birds have 0 & my Steelers 6 Ownership no Coach or QB but Ownership comes FIRST then the rest will fall inline.

and another thing, STOP saying you are all going to go out and buy a denver jersy they couldnt care less, they have revenue shareing. do that and you help them. boycott everything dont buy anything, if you have nfl network get rid of it. when you go to games dont buy anything no food, drinks, shirts, books, nothing. if they charge to use bathroom dont pay. (im surprised they havent decided to do that yet). I want Dawk Back Now!!!! Trade To Get Him Back!!!!
|
lisa710 03/03/09 10:36 am ET |
And one more thing...If the FO is so concerned with a few million dollars, maybe us fans should stop spending millions every year on their over-priced merchandise when they make these bone-head moves! If the fans--and team--have to lose their most beloved Eagle, I think it is ridiculous that management gets away unscathed under the guise of 'business is business'...ridiculous...I'm boycotting Eagles merchandise!
|
lisa710 03/03/09 10:20 am ET |
I strongly believe that the FO has just ripped the heart out of this team. My evil-dallas-fan brother has continually harped on the fact that the Eagles mngmnt does not care about their players. I have tried to defend this point again and again and now I am done. It is completely true. Dawkins drove that defense to give 110% every game and it is that defense that got us to the playoffs. This is a disgrace. I hope that Dawkins gets his ring with the Broncos. Lurie and Reid don't deserve one.
|
juliofilomeno 03/03/09 2:33 am ET |
Another reason the eagles should have signed Dawk is the fact that not only did he make the pro bowl but against Dallas he forced 2 fumbles for touchdowns in 2 consecutive offensive series that Dallas had. How many safties can do that or have ever done that period. Furthermore one must understand that there is a thing called the psychological aspect of playing and he gave the team a psychological boost or help to the team. Maybe th FO is too greedy to see that. Well I just hope the secondary can work things out and have a good year.
|
cewing@... 03/03/09 2:08 am ET |
I still cant believe hes gone ...i firmly believe that eagles fans who truly loved dawk should all go out and get his denver jersey and we should show our appreciation for giving his heart and soul to this team by repping dawkins #20 denver orange when the eagles play the broncos this year
|
amvolpe@... 03/03/09 12:21 am ET |
blackhefner; your not racist because the FO are acutually Jewish. ha!! that's what makes your comment so funny. I love it when stereotypes show signs of truthfulness.. ha!!

all i have to say is when do the dawkin bronco jerseys go on sale.i want one.go dawkins

blackhefner@... 03/02/09 11:15 pm ET |
The Eagles FO Are The Jews Of The "NFL" No Disrespect and im not racist at all, but 48 million "UNDER" The salary cap and you cant pay a player 7 million. Its Sad And Ridiculous And Im Honestly Ashamed to be an eagles Fan.48 million and they have yet to bring anyone In.What The F are we going to do with 11 Draft Picks.Oh I Get It We get Rid Of The Veterans and have a team of rookies..Good Job Stingy Lurie,Andy Cheap, and Joe Selfish
|
michaeledwardu40@... 03/02/09 10:54 pm ET |
im sorry but in the comment about being the detroit lions i doubt that would ever happen considering if you look at the amount of starters that they had who were constantly injured f course you would not be able to find people who also got injured so it would be hard to get any chemistry at all. they had a ruff year and a bad FO and the players never got in tune.
|
refret@... 03/02/09 10:20 pm ET |
You may think that will happen and I hope you are wrong. How many times should the fans just sit back and watch all of the trades, drafts and releases without letting the management FEEL any loss. They do not always make the right choice.
Even though with all their wisdom I have not been to a superball parade down Broad Street.
|
AlgeoEagle81@... 03/02/09 9:58 pm ET |
This was such a stupid move but I'm still gonna bleed green! I think Quintin Demps can step in for dawk and play well. This team has many more leaders and weapons, and by the time the draft is over and the season is under way, everyone will forget about this. GO EAGLES!!!
|
Giovanni_832003@... 03/02/09 9:49 pm ET |
I live in Houston,Tx and I a hardcore eagle or should I say WAS. Letting Dawkins walk away was one of the stupidest things the organization has ever done. All he wanted was two more years and you guys couldnt give it to him??? After he single has given everything to that team and he has won countless games by himself. I will cancel my NFL Sunday ticket and jeff lurie and fat a** andy reid can go and lose all the games this year for what i care. I still love the eagles but the people that make decisions need to get kicked in the head.
|
scolletta 03/02/09 9:13 pm ET |
Letting Brian Dawkins go was the worst move ever!!!!!!!! I will not buy another eagle jersey, ticket or even watch themthis year - management sucks. Since living in Florida, I had to purchase NFL ticket to watch the eagle games, but I will be cancelling tomorrow. The ownership and andy DO NOT CARE about us or the team, let BDOG go and have not made a postive move yet. I am done as an eagle fan
|
amvolpe@... 03/02/09 7:36 pm ET |
refret, you must have missed one of my posts. I agree, in fact, I think it is the fan loyalty that did us in. Ther front office thinks they can do what ever they want cause us fans will remain diehard, loyal merchandise purchasing consumers. But YOUR RIGHT!!! this time they went to far. We all should BOYCOTT EAGLES MERCANDISE for this season. Lets hit those cheap ****s where it hurts. Its a shame when a FO judges the success of a team by cap room and not talent.
|
refret@... 03/02/09 7:28 pm ET |
There is one word I feel is missing from all the articles I have read. That is fan loyalty. We are the most loyal fans, the fans with the biggest hearts. That is until the Eagles ripped it out by letting Brain Dawkins leave.
We have let the Eagles release, acquire and keep players that we may not have agreed with This time it is a little to much.
I don't want to hear it is business or just good football. If that is the reasons then the Eagles did not look far into the future. Mr. Dawkins would have made a great defence assistant coach and who could know where that would lead.
No, the idea is not that stupid. He has the respect of the fans, the city, and most of all other players.
I will not go to the games, will not watch the eagles any more. You see we have for a very long time cheered only for the jersey, well today I am cheering for #20 Mr Brain Dawkins.
I hope that more fans will think this through, this is OUR TEAM we cannot be replaced as easy as the players.

detroit lions. who are you going to replace him with that will doa better job?
.....
i'll tell you who...NO ONE.
....get rid of mcnabb and get ready for at least 2 years of 5-11.........
