Booker Looks To Make Impact In Crowded Backfield

Shortly after filling their coffers with even more draft picks by trading their first-round pick to Carolina, the Eagles moved one of their own picks to the Miami Dolphins for running back Lorenzo Booker.

Philadelphia sent Miami a fourth-round pick – the 115th selection overall – for the former Florida State tailback. Booker, a third-round pick in 2007, was watching the draft from his home, and said that he never expected to be a part of it for a second time.

"I was just laughing about that," he said. "This is not even my draft and here I am, on the phone again. It's kind of funny when you think about it."

During his rookie season in Miami, Booker started one game and rushed for 125 yards on 28 carries. He also caught 28 passes for 127 yards. Booker said that he prides himself on being a threat in the passing game, and that he hopes to have a similar impact on the aerial attack in Philadelphia.

"Catching passes is definitely a strength of mine," he said. "I love catching the ball as much as I love running with it. Again, I got a chance to play a lot towards the end of the year, particularly catching the ball at first, and that was one of the things I excelled in."

Booker admitted that he had hoped to be able to make a more instant impact in the NFL after a stellar career with the Seminoles. He was a four-year letterman at Florida State and he finished his career ranked seventh on the school's all-time rushing list with 2,389 yards and he scored 15 touchdowns. He does not have any return experience.

While at Florida State, Booker had to share time with New York Jets' tailback Leon Washington and while in Miami he split time with Ronnie Brown and Jessie Chatman. Shortly after the trade he said he realized he will be stepping into an equally crowded backfield in Philadelphia.

"It's a spread offense and again, I was looking at (RB Brian) Westbrook's numbers from last season. Anytime you can get a chance to play in an offense like that, you have to be excited."

It's super Bowl time in Philly!!!!I can't wait for the season to start. We could go without drafting another player, round 3 to 6,and I'd still be psyched up!Wait till Laws hits OhNo from Dallas, once or twice, and it's over.Samuel and Lito are gonna read OhNo,Eli,and Campbell, like Lord of the Rings. It'll be wins of epic perportions.

Giants had horrible picks!!! Haha!!! Terrell Thomas? Way to go giants! Way to get the second best FS at 31 when you coulda had him at 45 or 50! They suck. === Cowboys however got Maybe the best CB and TE. 1 of the best RB's. === Skins got Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly. Just what they needed. === we will load up tomarrow!

Lito's stayin. He'd be gone if he was leavin. We would have to draft CB to replace him and it's too late for that. Lito's STAYIN! === BIG DAY SUNDAY!!! We are gonna load up. We will trade up a ton I'll bet. Get who we want.

I'm giving Reid and Co.an A+ for this draft so far.We hit the biggest issues facing this team with Defensive line, and Wide Reciever.now we just need to dump Darren Howard's fat a**.We can also move Curtis to the #3 spot, where he needs to be,just like Welker.People forget that Stallworth was the Patriots #2 WR.

I LOVE these picks so far,and to add an extra 1st rounder next season,is amazing.I can't belive the Panthers gave up a 2nd (#43),a 4th(#109),and a 1st rounder for 09.This also proves to me that the Eagles made a strong effort for Chad Johnson.I'm sure Reid offered our two 2nds (at the time,#43 and #49),as well as our first round pick for 09,and Cincy wouldn't tkae it.It just all adds up,and when our time was up for #43,we just switched with the Vikings for more time to deal with Cincy, like adding Lito, and taking back the first rounder for 09.When they wouldn't budge,we pulled the trigger on Laws, and 14 minutes later,my man DesEan Jackson.I love this draft, and I hope that we keep Lito now. We're gonna be very tough to beat this season. All phases (Defense,Offense, and Special Teams)have greatly improved. This may be the best Eagle team of the McNabb era.I'm gonna go back and look player to player from the 05 team, and see if we've got them beat, but at this point,I belive so.

No,but I believe he is a very great FUTURE quarterback.I truly believe he is better than Kevin Kolb, and will be cheaper. He(Colt Brennan)just needs to bulk up like he's doing. He's also a quality person. He admited to being injured BEFORE the draft which, resulted in him dropping even further. He easily could have hid it,and did the surgery after being drafted in the 3rd or 4th,but did the right thing.

This is our best draft to me in a while. We picked up another 1st rounder. No. Sorry. CAROLINAS 1ST ROUNDER! for next year. We can get LT next year now. We have 2 1st's so we can trade up and get 1 of those 2 badasses next year. === And we are just gettin started!

Yep... You know I love Laws. I thought he was close 3rd to Ellis and Dorsey. Can't believe he fell to 47. Can't believe Jackson fell to 49. Hard to keep up with all our picks but I swear we have 5 4th's... === Tou hear Bri say REID said this morning they were lookin at Colt?
