Free agency is here, and with it brings an opportunity the Eagles plan to use. They've got cap room and they've got needs.
But how deeply will the Eagles dip into the free-agency pool? They've had some years when they have come right out of the chute and signed big-name players -- tackle Jon Runyan in 2000 and defensive end Jevon Kearse in 2004 -- and they've had years when they've largely been on the sidelines.
Now that the time is here, what are the Eagles planning to do in free agency?
Here's a look at some positions the team may look to address. Within each, click on the link to check out some of top players available at that position along with some other names to watch (lists do not include players with franchise or transition tags).
Cornerback: Lito Sheppard is a Pro Bowl corner when healthy. Sheldon Brown is solid and due for a Pro Bowl himself. The Eagles figure to add another playmaker here either in free agency or the draft. FREE AGENT CBs
Defensive End: The Eagles need another top-flight pass-rusher to complement Pro Bowl right end Trent Cole. FREE AGENT DEs
Offensive Line: Andy Reid is always on the lookout for quality offensive linemen. Plus, veteran tackles Jon Runyan and William Thomas are entering the final year of their contracts.
