Correll Buckhalter was among five players who missed Wednesday's practice. The part-time running back/kick returner suffered a concussion in Sunday's loss to the Giants. Earlier in the week head coach Andy Reid termed it "pretty significant" as it could likely sideline Buckhalter for Sunday's game in Dallas.

Four starters, including right tackle Jon Runyan, tight end L.J. Smith, receiver Reggie Brown  and free safety Brian Dawkins, also did not participate in the workout. Running back Brian Westbrook and defensive tackle Mike Patterson took limited reps.

Reid said many of his injured players are day-to-day and he is hopeful of having a number of them back on the field Thursday.

He also said that he'll only consider making personnel changes if his team's injury situation dictates such action.

Certainly, the offensive backfield seems like a likely spot where Tony Hunt, the rookie out of Penn State, could get a shot this weekend.

"I told him this week that he has to prepare like he's never prepared before. He's a play away from starting in the NFL," Westbrook said of Hunt. "The second guy is always a play away. You never know what might happen in a game."

Hunt has dressed for six games this season and touched the ball 10 times total, including his first career touchdown (1-yard run) against Detroit in his first NFL game.

"He did a great job for us when he had an opportunity at short yardage and goal-line for the weeks that he was up," Reid said. "He's picking up the offense better than he was before. He is picking it up well and he'll step in and do a good job if Buck can't be in there."

Buckhalter has done a nice job this season when called upon, averaging 5.3 yards on 49 carries. He's also chipped in on kick returns, with a 21.4-yard average.

Smith, meanwhile, is dealing with knee and rib injuries sustained in the Giants game. Dawkins suffered back spasms in the Giants game. Runyan and Brown are both sidelined due to knee swelling. Patterson has a sprained ankle and Westbrook is listed with a sore knee.

Starting right guard Shawn Andrews, who sprained the MCL in his right knee in the Giants game, was full-go in Wednesday's practice.

Cowboys CB Newman Misses Practice

Starting cornerback Terence Newman (knee/toe) missed practice Wednesday, along with wide receiver Terry Glenn (knee). Glenn was expected to practice this week for the first time since training camp. He has undergone two arthroscopic surgeries on his right knee, the last one in September. He has not played all season.

Starting right tackle Marc Colombo and starting wideout Patrick Crayton participated fully in practice despite ankle injuries.

Eagles Fill Out Practice Squad

The Eagles filled an open spot on their practice squad Wednesday, signing offensive tackle Ramiro Pruneda.

The 6-foot-6, 317-pound Pruneda, pronounced PRU-ned-ah, began his professional career when he attended the NFL Europa training camp in 2006, where he was assigned to the Cologne Centurions as a "National" player. One week into training camp, he suffered a knee injury and returned to his hometown of Monterrey, Mexico, for rehabilitation. This past offseason, Pruneda was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs and attended training camp with the team in 2007, but was released prior to the start of the regular season. He was later re-signed to the Chiefs practice squad where he remained for weeks 1-7 of this season.

The 24-year-old Pruneda starred collegiately at Monterrey Tech for five seasons, four of which his team won the Mexican National Championship. Pruneda was a five-time National Team selection, which plays in the Aztec Bowl against an NCAA Division III all-star squad.
