Quarterback Donovan McNabb and strong safety Quintin Mikell each missed practice for the second straight day because of injury. Offensive tackle William Thomas returned to the practice field in a limited role.

McNabb was not on the field as he was receiving treatment during Thursday's workout for a sprained ankle and a sore thumb. He suffered both injuries during last Sunday's 17-7 win over the Miami Dolphins. A.J. Feeley took the practice reps from the first-team offense the last two days and will be prepared to start if McNabb is unable to play.

"Nothing really changes from last week other than the fact that I might get some reps because of Don's condition," said Feeley. "The sense of urgency for me intensifies because it could happen sooner, for me to get in there."

In relief of McNabb, Feeley was 13 of 19 for 116 and a touchdown. Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said on Thursday that he thought Feeley played well in the second half.

"(A.J.'s) done a nice job up to this point," said Mornhinweg. "He certainly has the confidence of the rest of our squad. He will be prepared to play Sunday night (if he has to). He's played very well for us here."

Mikell sprained the MCL in his knee during the second quarter of last Sunday's game. J.R. Reed took his place last Sunday and is in position to start for the second time in his career if Mikell can't play.

Thomas missed Wednesday's practice with an illness. The following players all had full participation on Thursday: wide receiver Jason Avant (groin), free safety Brian Dawkins (thigh), long snapper Jon Dorenbos (abdomen), guard Todd Herremans (knee), cornerback William James (foot), defensive tackle Mike Patterson (ankle) and running back Brian Westbrook (knee).

Middle linebacker Omar Gaither was removed from the injury report Thursday (back).

PATRIOTS: QB BRADY LIMITED

New England quarterback Tom Brady had limited participation for the second straight day with a right shoulder injury. It should not keep him off the field Sunday night. Defensive end Jarvis Green, however, did not participate for the second straight day because of an ankle injury.

Linebacker Adalius Thomas (team decision), guard Stephen Neal (shoulder) and safety Eugene Wilson (ankle) were removed from the injury report.
