Brian Westbrook
gave the fans and his fellow teammates a reason to believe their season is far from over Sunday during the Eagles' 17-7 victory over Miami at Lincoln Financial Field.
The six-year veteran not only recorded 148 yards on 32 carries, both career-high numbers, but also led the Eagles to .500 for the first time all season and their first consecutive win streak.
"It feels good," Westbrook said. "The team fought. We didn't play a perfect football game, but we continued to fight. When the team plays together, even when they are playing a team that is 0-9, we played a great game. When the team fights like that and stays together, we will have an opportunity to win the game and we did."
Westbrook had missed practice twice this past week with a sore knee, but it did not stop him from recording 68 yards by halftime, including a 36-yard sprint down field with 14:28 to go in the second quarter.

The Eagles, however, were not only down 7-3 at halftime, but they were also without quarterback Donovan McNabb
, who left the game with a sprained ankle.
"You always want your starting quarterback out there, so we were a little bit concerned," Westbrook said. "But the motto of this team is that when one player goes down, the next player steps in and tries to do his best to carry this team and to hold up the line. A.J. Feeley came in, completed some passes, ran the ball a little bit and did a good job."
Westbrook and the Eagles offense would persevere through the game in light of McNabb's absence. Westbrook rushed for another 80 yards, including sprints of 16 and 23 yards, which keyed the Eagles' final tally, a 4-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Jason Avant
in the fourth quarter. And even though he wasn't the running back who punched in the go-ahead score in the third quarter, Westbrook allowed Correll Buckhalter to tote the ball in from 8 yards out. Feeley faked a pitch to Westbrook which created some misdirection and Buckhalter took the handoff and ran up the gut for his 14th career rushing touchdown.
All in all it was about the Eagles coming together as a team in the second half.
"We got into a good rhythm in the second half," Westbrook said. "Feeley did a great job of coming in. He put some balls down the field. Wide receiver Kevin Curtis
caught some unbelievable balls today. Wide receiver Reggie Brown caught some balls and tight end L.J. Smith did as well. So when you have that rhythm of running and passing, you keep the defense off balance."
Westbrook also attributes his career day to the blocking of his fellow teammates, which was key during the team's victory over Washington just a week ago.
"Thomas (Tapeh) did another great job of blocking those linebackers," Westbrook said. "He had a great game last week and he did another great job of cutting them sometimes, high walling them sometimes and he kept them off-balance pretty much the entire game. My hat goes off to him as well as the guys up front that did it pretty much the entire game.
"When you have an offensive line, fullback, tight ends and receivers blocking for you the way I did, you are going to have some success and we did that today."
