Mondays in the NFL are not just about football. ESPN is proving that this year as it presents its "Fans Helping Fans" Community Service Award in 12 Monday Night Football host cities during the 2007 NFL season.

Prior to the Sept. 17 Eagles-Redskins game, some former players who enjoyed the Eagles storied success gathered at Old Original Bookbinder's
for ESPN's Chalk Talk Luncheon Series.

The event also included a community element as well with Team ESPN, the corporate outreach program of ESPN, recognizing Eagles Youth Partnership with the "Fans Helping Fans Award," highlighting the non-profit organization's team support and commitment to making a positive impact in the community.

Established in 1995, Eagles Youth Partnership (EYP) is the charitable wing of the Philadelphia Eagles. EYP was created to inspire kids to learn, to play, to dream, to achieve, and ultimately to live healthy lives. With programs reaching more than 50,000 children each year, EYP's goals are to improve opportunities and enhance the quality of life for children and youth in the Greater Philadelphia region through health and education partnerships.

EYP is known for providing unique and innovative mobile services to communities via the Eagles Eye Mobile and the Eagles Book Mobile. These mobile services provide free eye exams, prescription eye glasses, storybook readings and new books. Every year, EYP organizes a day of community service during which the entire Eagles organization participates in a playground build at a school in a disadvantaged neighborhood.

"With this award, ESPN shows that they care about their fans every day of the week, not just on Monday nights," said Sarah Martinez-Helfman, executive director of Eagles Youth Partnership. "We share this amazing honor with the entire Eagles organization and fan base because their support allows us to improve the lives of 50,000 children each year."
