Andrews Signs A 6-Year Contract

Stacy Andrews is a done deal. He has signed a six-year contract with the Eagles and will likely take over the right tackle position effectively immediately. Signing Andrews, the Eagles' first step into free agency, starts a Saturday that figures to have as many ups and downs as the first day of free agency produced.

Andrews, who played right tackle for Cincinnati last year after the Bengals used their franchise tag on him, is recovering from a serious right knee injury and the Eagles are confident that he will be ready to play at a high level from the very start of the 2009 campaign. The older brother of right guard Shawn Andrews, Stacy is regarded as one of the league's up-and-coming offensive linemen.

The Andrews Brothers are expected to form a massive wall on the right side of the Eagles' offensive line, giving the offense a powerful, agile pairing on that side of the line of scrimmage. Andrews' arrival means the likely departure of veteran Jon Runyan, an unrestricted free agent who is recovering from knee surgery.

Andrews visited the Eagles on Friday afternoon and went through a series of physical examinations that he passed with flying colors. He then spent the night in Philadelphia and has been at the NovaCare Complex for much of the morning on Saturday.

I'll tell you what fellow diehard Eagles fans. Enough is enough. I am tired of this same old BS that the front office puts us through every year. If we don't draft one of these three positions in the first round: RB/WR/TE, and don't address them in free agency, I will not be watching any Eagles football this season. It's not fair to McNabb, Westbrook, any other players on the team, or the fans to put a mediocre product on the field and expect us to pour our hearts and souls into this organization.

Im from Harrisburg originally and moved to Texas, so I root all day for the teams from the Penn. I gota say the eagles are the ones I love and hate the most. We got the team but not the scheme. We gota run the dam ball more. I love the game of football. I love runnin the ball and watchin people get blown up. I hate the way we pass all the time and choke in the 4th quarter.

Sweet. We signed a fat guy who's a former 4th round pick, has a bad knee, and a pyscho for a brother. We're sure to win the Super Bowl now!

Dawkins definitely had "IT" which is why he's a HOF-er. But no one said "IT" will be found! You dont just look around like ANYONE could have "IT" or "it" wouldnt be special!

I'm done crying. It just sucks being little. watching Dawk with another team is liking seeing your wife with another man. I mean really. How have we improved here. I always thought management would have the sense to treat a guy like that with an offer which would ultimately end up with him coaching at some level for this freaking team. Instead he just gets thrown in the grinder like all the rest. If it's that frigid, why do we even bother, my God this bites. I love Mcnabb, and westy, but Dawkins was solid, constant, and fan friendly. Who could forget his way at the end of last year? Andy. I just can't respect him anymore.Andy that is..

iggle- I have no doubt I annoy you, simply by stating my opinion, which differs from you. I don't think you have the slightest real world notion what "frontrunner" actually means. This word you drop on the generic "you people" constantly, when you aren't making incessant rants against everyone who isn't you for being either ****, a-holes or some other sexual slander. I have no beef with true fans, but opinions from any of us are of equal value to the opinions of any of the rest of us. And you've already screamed your bio, and your own credentials as a fan, for all to see, and I don't care if my words bring out the venom in you. I have been a fan for decades as well. And my opinions differ. So be it.

eckertdrugs>>>where the hell did you come from anyway? I was born into the Eagle way of life. Period. You talk about it like you have this theoretical solution to all the problems of the Eagle Universe... you are the guy who sits back, evaluating everything everyone says, comes up some crazy a** explanation, filled with mumbo jumbo irrelevant dialogue with absolutely no FEELING to anything you say. You don't have the SPIRIT...you don't have the GREEN...man you just dont HAVE "IT" and I know you need to ask what "IT" is cuz you DON'T have it. "IT" is what Dawk had before he left us for more money. "IT" is UNDYING PASSION for this TEAM, THIS CITY, AND THE SPORT OF FOOTBALL. You, sir, are now dead to me also.

steveeckert: GREAT POINT! Pll think the "business" can only be one-sided. Dawkins probably made the best decision for his family, the #1 thing in HIS life. He IS 36 and this will most likely be his last contract. You kinda have to go to the team that will offer you the most money with a chance to win the Big Game. And the EAGLES could have EASILY decided to cut him ANY TIME! You never know, Demps could have come in training camp looking so good that they cut Dawk. Happened to Trotter (twice), Spikes, B.Taylor, T. Vincent, and so many more.

What do I think the team is going to do with the draft picks? Pawn a third of them off to next year, and use half of the remaining ones on line depth.

eckertdrugs>>> you are one of those "between the lines" kind of guys. I can tell. Because once again, as you did yesterday, you are misquoting me and no understanding what I'm trying to say. You speak so eloquently yet are ignorant to fact. FACT: This happened before with Reggie White. FACT: I was still there as a fan, and I still am. AND I ALSO said I WOULD NOT RESPECT HIM IF IF IF IF IF IF IF he left for more money AFTER SAYING HE WOULDN'T, quit being so smart you're ignorant. It's getting rather annoying.

"They have you on the hook so bad, you'll accept anything. Oh yeah, let's here about some of your great ideas or should I say in depth analysis about nothing so important like whether or not we should keep sheldon." You dont want to keep Sheldon? Why not? And why are you so damned upset over a game? This is football. Football is a game. If your not playing football, then shouldnt you have bigger things to worry about then football? "or better yet go slap your lips against the FO's butt cheeks." No thanks. I dont like the FO. I just dont hate them. They dont sign mechanics, so they cant help me with my real problems. "Most of you are all green from the waist up." I was an eagles fan long before I was a Dawk fan. I will be an Eagles fan next year. My timing might suck though. "Dawkins was Marketable. this next guy will not be. I'll guarantee you that!!" WHo's the next guy? I want to know.

for heavens sake ... cry me a river already. One of, if not thee most successful franchise year after year, and you guys act like the owners packed the team up and left town. Have faith in them will you. They did bring this team to a championship game last year. I may not always agree with the moves but I always have faith Reid and company do the right moves. Dawks is old and slow. Get over it.

Let's get this straight your relationship to the eagles is one way! they don't care about you. As a whole your seen as revenue. But all this banter and talk of all the subtleties of each position and the speculations of which players we might pick up means nothing in light of the fact that they just let go of an emotional icon here, and could care less how any of you feel. That's one way. How are you going to explain to your cowgirl, and Giant fan co-workers how your team just took a crap on one of it's most beloved players? This business sucks period. Go pack your eagle green gear up your tails!!!! I'm done crying and whining you sick ****s

iggle, I'll accept the departure of my favorite player in this league, and despite his wearing a jersey I have no fondness for, he'll remain my favorite player. That's how I roll. I don't bail on my decade of respect for a guy if he doesn't wear this jersey any longer. The Eagles are still my team. I fully expect them to make a couple more stellar acquisitions. But the man got almost TWICE what the Eagles were offering him. He is incentive-ed for up to $27mil. He has watched enough of his brothers cut adrift by this team to see the writing on the wall from this FO. We move on, but his words are as exempt from criticism as it is possible for words to be. The team isn't the only one who gets to shout "It's a business!" and then a player who says the same thing gets vilified by people turning their backs on him. #20 defines character. I'll have none of your new-found "disrespect" for him.
