Are You Ready To Look To Bengals?

Tough week for everybody. TGIF, indeed. On this side, we all have to move ahead and look forward and all of that coach/player/team speak and, hey, that's just the way it is. For the fans, I've heard you all week. I've talked to you all week.

TGIF.

The Eagles play Sunday against the Bengals. They are looking to reach 6-4 on the season. What has happened in the previous nine games is there -- everybody is aware of the record -- but what matters is winning on Sunday. And so the healing process has matured day after day, from Monday until now, until all that is here is Cincinnati.

And 6-4.

The Eagles have been questioned for most of the week about what has not gone right during the season, while head coach Andy Reid has stressed what is good with this team. The greatest of the great athletes and minds in this world -- the NFL -- move from day to day having a complete picture of what has been, but they all are forced to focus on what will be. No negative thoughts, no matter what has happened in the past.

Interesting times.

So, what to expect? The Eagles have wrongs to right, with little margin for error. They must gain a confidence and win on Sunday and then move on to the next game. For much of the week, those on the outside have not considered what it will take to beat the Bengals. Their stories have been about what has been, and what they think should be.

We know this much: The Eagles are 5-4 and they have a mandate to win one week after the next from here on out. The margin of error is extremely small. They have had too much up and down this season. Too much inconsistency. Too many losses in the NFC. Not enough of this and that ... and on and on.

Inside, you have to understand the mentality. How else do you improve other than to evaluate on the go and work as hard as you can to get better and fix wrongs? The practice I watched on Thursday was face paced, upbeat, crisp, as good as the ones I watched in 2000-2004 when the Eagles won just about every week.

What do I know?

I know only what I see, and what I see is an Eagles team that has a lot of ability, but I also see an Eagles team that hasn't won critical situations in enough games. I see an Eagles team that is, as they say, what it is.

What I hope to see on Sunday is an Eagles team that plays its best game of the season and beats the Bengals and answers a whole different set of questions. I'm moving station to station here. I'm not evaluating every word in a press conference. I'm not balancing stats and pointing to past mistakes.

I'm in the moment. It is the only way to be. The Eagles have to be that way as well. Honestly, going away and playing on the road the next two weeks may be the best thing for this team. The mandate doesn't change, of course. The Eagles need to find what they are all about. Time is running out. They need to win. They need to win.

I never thought Friday would get here. It has been a long, long week. The future is now, once again, just in time.

I just wish that Andy Read would run more I mean if we did'nt have a good running back then ya I would see why, but thats not the case we got the ledgendary Brain Westbrook who can run past ANY one so I'm confident with our Eagles one last thing E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol...'this week's practices have been just as good and crisp as the ones i saw from 2000-2004...when year after year the team was at least perennial championship pretenders'...how embarrasing, its almost 2009 and this guy is holding onto the early part of the decade when really there is nothing to show for those years, the trophy case is empty, Dave Spadaro.

Who has the cool under fire impresses me? Joe Montana, skinny kid from western Pa. never looked the part. Should have never made the Notre Dame starting quarterback? Should have never been drafted into the NFL. No arm , no scrambling ability, certainly no size. He never showed fire. All he did was slice and dice your defense all the way down the field. He won a game at the old Vet after Reggie White and our defense sacked him 6 times. That was a NFL QB. Who knew?

Arrogance doesn't necessarily equate to knowing what you're talking about,.guvna',..but,.i'm sure that's something that doesn't need reinforcement with you,..not sure I understand yur pt about projected starter at safety,..and finally,.yur certainly entitled to yur opinion re our team, phillies, etc. I can find no fault at all in expressing that view,..last 3-5 lines. No reason to be petty unless yur trying to imitate mikeyantonyhall!

I never thought mcnabb ever had that fire...he's great under pressure when it comes to eluding it, but he's not great most of the time when the seconds are ticking and you either do everything perfectly or lose it...some of the rookies this year have done a better job with the 2 minute drill...eg ryan, but still, he gives us the best chance, and if the dang O would start clicking on all 11 cylinders, we wouldn't need that fire, we'd be so far ahead every game...LOL

Just got back from work reading some of the prev. posts. Listen, I think McNabb has done alot of great things for this organization...NO DOUBT ABOUT IT...BUT...he's lost a ton of fire in his game and it ALMOST seems like he's just tryin to skate by these last years instead of PROVING he's a great player. I don't care how rich or poor anyone may be reading this post but if I were Jeff Lurie & I were paying an INDIVIDUAL, the captain of my team, what was it $112,000,000 for a 10 yr contract & my organization is losing close games and there are mistakes not taken seriously when made...I'D BE HEATED & I almsot can't believe Jeff isn't putting that fire on McNabb...{breathe} but its not only McNabb to blame for the season so far and that is what I was saying, not that McNabb needs to go or that he is no good, just lost his passion for the game!

michalanthonyharris, I liked the cashier comment, as it was quite cute and the only thing i'll be ringing up is your girlfriends cell phone, that is if you have one, most likely the woman in your life doing your laundry is your mother because you most likely live at home, maybe you should pray that the porn shops you go to make a more realistic blow up doll, I suggested that the eagles go for it on 4th and goal, not every 4th down, read what i wrote correctly

Brizer, I have many issues, and thank you adding to it guvna', you can call me arrogant and I will gladly acknowledge that I know what I am talking about, Considine gave up a few game winning td's if i recall against the bear's, and Im proud that study so intently during our kickoffs, and if that makes you a point dexter than i'll make sure you dont have to wear a dunce cap...the point is that we had a projected starter at safety on special teams, which apparently has made some tackles, al of which is his job and i expect anyone near the ballcarrier to do their job which is tackle...but kudos on considines ability to do his job, my only issue is that the team is still giving its fans the false hopes of doing anything close to what the phillies did this october, I am a long devoted eagles fan, I grew up in philly and have watched them for a long time...I want them to win and be successful, but our coaching staff will prohibit our players from doing so...Its not a matter of being negative and I would love to be wrong and watch them march down broad street in february but I dont see it happening ever with Andy Reid and Morningwheig as our coaches

Also Hag, I'm not going to sit here and argue with You, especialy since I'm leaving in awhile. But I do want to say this, You ought to try two things. When You make a "sale" (I'm guessing by salesman You mean cashier) say "PRAISE THY LORD" really loud and point to the sky. Then, after Your manager fires You, because working a cashier is far different from football, try being an NFL coach. Go for it on at least 50% of Your teams 4th downs. When You fail, see how much Your team likes your decisions, and if the FO would keep Ya, ya big dummy. Haha just playing, don't do that.
