In addition to drafting well, the Eagles have done a tremendous job of locking up young talent and key veterans to long-term contracts. That is a testament, not only to the team's ability to draft well, but also to its loyalty and commitment to continuity.

Among those current Eagles who have been re-signed or extended by the team at one time are WR Jason Avant, FB Leonard Weaver, TE Brent Celek, T Winston Justice, QB Donovan McNabb, C Jamaal Jackson, LG Todd Herremans, RG Shawn Andrews, DT Mike Patterson, CB Sheldon Brown, K David Akers, DE Trent Cole, DE Juqua Parker, S Quintin Mikell and LS Jon Dorenbos.
While Victor Abiamiri works to be more of a factor in 2010, do the Eagles have plans to address the position before the draft?

Charley Walters of the St. Paul (Mn.) Pioneer Press writes that the Eagles could make a move for restricted free agent defensive end Ray Edwards.

Victor Abiamiri
We caught up with DE Victor Abiamiri, who fought through a nagging knee injury last season. Check out our Q&A with No. 95:

On how injuries have impacted his first three seasons in Philadelphia: "Through the course of my career, obviously injuries have played a factor in my development. You just deal with those as a football player. I look back on these first three seasons and wish I could have contributed a little bit more. But injuries happen. That's just part of the game.

"I've had injuries sparingly in my high school and college career, but the most since I've been here in the NFL. It's definitely frustrating, but you just have to keep a positive outlook and a positive mindset. I want to be out there no matter how bad it hurts. I want to be out there contributing and I want to be out there helping my football team win games. I know I can play, I know I'm a good player, so it's just a matter of nursing my body back to health and being 100 percent when I get out there."

Victor AbiamiriOn what it was like playing inside in nickel packages last season: "It's cool. It's just another way to get on the field and stay on the field in passing situations. It was definitely a tough learning curve early on, but I think the more experience I got at it, the better I was as the season went on. It's something that I like doing because I get on the field in passing situations and I get to pin my ears back and rush the passer. So what more can you ask for?

"The difference playing inside is the type of blocking schemes you encounter. How you play, how much space and how much room you have to work with is a little bit different playing inside as opposed to playing outside."

On his goals moving forward as well as the defensive line: "Getting healthy and staying healthy is my No. 1 thing. I know everything else will fall into place after that.

"Up front, I definitely think we did a solid job last season. But obviously there's always room to improve. Whether it's us improving on our own, or them bringing in someone to help us be better as a team ... whatever it takes to win football games."
