What's in store for wide receiver Jacoby Ford, who ran a 4.28 40-yard dash at this year's Combine. How about return specialist Trindon Holliday, who clocked in at 4.34 seconds.
Speed does not always translate into production in the NFL. Even though fans would drool at the thought of Usain Bolt as a wide receiver, it doesn't always work out as expected.
Before this year's Combine, the top five 40-yard dash times by a wideout since 2000 according to FantastFootballXtreme.com were by Jerome Mathis (4.28, 2005), Darrius Heyward-Bey (4.3, 2009), Yamon Figurs (4.3, 2007), Aaron Lockett (4.31, 2002) and Santana Moss (4.31, 2001). The eventual production ranges from non-existent to Pro Bowl level. Lockett was a seventh-round pick of the Bucs who never made an NFL roster. Mathis was an All-Pro return specialist in 2005, but was out of football after just three seasons. Moss has enjoyed a prolific career for the Jets and Redskins, earning a Pro Bowl selection. |

Jerry Robinson of UCLA was the Eagles' first-round pick in 1979. That's the last time the Eagles used a first-round pick on a linebacker. Could this be the year the Eagles pluck a LB with the 24th overall pick? Even with the anticipated return of Stewart Bradley?
Geoff Mosher of the Wilmington News-Journal reports that middle linebacker prospect Rolando McClain believes that the Eagles are interested in him. The question is whether he would last until the Eagles pick. |

We caught up with DT Trevor Laws, the third-year player who faces a critical off-season. Check out our Q&A with No. 93:
On his role in 2009: "It was unexpected. It happened. It's something I hope I can use to mold the rest of my career in a more positive way. It lets you know the level you need to work for in this off-season to get to where I want to be. I'm looking forward to working to see where I can go with it."
On the challenge of playing in a two-gap system: "It's something that takes a while to get used to - taking up these double teams and these big O-linemen, but you have to find a way to make it work for you. I have to use my speed and quickness to get into the backfield, but at the same time play within the defense. That's what you have to do in the NFL. Everyone has their own system, you have to find a way to make it work."
On how he can improve: "Really for me, it's all technique. There's always going to be bigger, stronger guys in the NFL than you. You have to use your body to the way it works best for you. I have to use my technique that Coach Rory (Segrest) teaches me. That's working with my hands, working with my hips to beat these double teams and get in the backfield and make these plays. It's really all technique."
